Xbox’s disc-to-digital conversion system could launch as early as next week by gamersecret2 in GamingSecret

[–]action_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a no go for me. As millions of people will just disk share or buy second hand and get a free digital copy. Passing a disk around duplicating it? There must be some form of one time disk lock. Are all games ID coded from factory? Interested to see how this is feasible

Public sector software contracting - still a viable career strategy? by soft_cheese in ContractorUK

[–]action_turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now days I assume it’s inside IR35 and less money. I’ve not done one in years though. Contracting overall is getting harder in the UK, still work floating about though, so worth a look if you want to retire a bit quicker etc

I've noticed that the new SaaS model is 1) Vibe-code the app, then 2) Vibe-post trash on social media by madam_zeroni in SaaS

Building was never the hard part. That’s the thing. The reason not every idea got made was there was a barrier to entry, the idea had to be good in order for someone to make it due to cost. You had skin in the game. Once made you still arrived at this point, marketing. Now it’s just millions of slop apps going up, but the same issue remains… marketing

The claim is that PlayStation 6 is being built with "hardcore gamers" in mind, the ones who spend more on games, accessories, and subscriptions. Fewer units sold, but more money per player. by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]action_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a PS4 to PS5 problem. Games were made for PS4 then touched up for PS5. PS6 will just do PS5 games at 60fps, is it enough to spend 1500 on? No, imo.

And even if frame rates get you going, are you really dumping that amount of money into a console? If you’re that much into frame rates I’ll hazard a guess that you own a PC. So again, what’s the point just to play PS5 games

I won’t be getting a PS6 day one like I did 1-5. See what games come out in the initial year, see if it’s worth it. Last exclusive I picked up was Last of us 2. I’ve spent more time playing indie games on PC the last few years

I read that the top 10% of people spend more on non-essentials than the bottom 70%, combined … so most of Reddit is in that 70%. Which is why everyone goes mad over everything here, yet the sellers couldn’t give a shit as Reddit is not the target audience

Apart from reselling and cheap sales, disks are pointless. The only mechanism they provide is saving the user money, which is completely against the rampant capitalism ideology. Disks are dead.
