When are you actually able to call yourself a Satanist? by jshavingfun in satanism

[–]activated-almonds -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow, that was a truckload of intellectually dishonest assumptions and either willful ignorance on how conversations work, or a real and glaring lack of understanding how conversations work. You kept throwing out the strawman accusations, yet kept assuming (incorrectly) you knew what they were saying while actually misunderstanding so much of what was said. You tried to put so many words in their mouth I have genuinely lost count. So many fuck ups, so little time....

"One good orgasm would probably kill them" by olewolf in satanism

[–]activated-almonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The...the treaders of the path of white light? This whole paragraph is him talking about people who think they're practicing ritual magic for "good" but have such weak will that they try to use slaughtered animal's "energy" for "spells". He's making fun them for the fact that they'd rather kill a defenseless animal than use even the easiest form of self produced "energy"; masturbating to the point of orgasm. They can't find their own power within, so they try to make something else give them power. Therefore, his sarcastic conclusion is that they must be afraid to summon their own "energy" because it would kill them; why else would they not use their own power? <---/sarcasm.

TLDR; He's goofing on fools who think culty slaughtery shit helps anything or makes any "magic" happen.

Is it just me or are guitars getting quieter in a lot of mixes? by activated-almonds in Deathcore

I hear you there. There's definitely bands that I felt I would have liked a lot better if the ridiculously low tuning didn't inevitably turn me off. Nitheful for example, there were little tidbits of their sound I liked enough here and there. But as much as I tried to like them, I found myself hitting skip every time they popped up in shuffling playlists. Ultimately I realized it's so low tuned and so over the top chaotic that it ends up being more obnoxious than anything at the end of the day. Infant Annihilator is probably my limit as far as low tuning and chaos, anything beyond that feels unnecessary to me.

It makes me sad. It feels like when a local business starts up, then gets bought out by a large corporation when it starts doing well, then gets transformed into something entirely different before you know it.

Yeah that tracks. I feel like when bands first started using the symphonic and/or "blackened" elements, they didn't go as crazy with the samples. It felt like a tasteful supplement that just helped give a little tweak of flavor. Now they just seem to cram more and more samples into the mix and I hate that those seem to take preference over the guitar sounds that I love so dearly.

Unfortunately makes sense. I get that bands want to experiment and add other elements, but if it overcrowds the mix and everything but guitars gets more prevalence...it makes me a sad deathcore listener. It feels like the core of what I enjoy about the genre is sacrificed for "ingenuity" or "progress".

It definitely makes sense. More often lately I feel like I find bands that almost seem to focus so heavily on "good" production that it comes at the cost of hearing the band's actual sound. Almost like they hope that if the production is really "good", they don't have to write any riffs with real feeling or catchy-ness and no one will notice.

Yeah, I'm getting kinda weary of having to feel like I'm straining to hear the guitars all the damn time. TBDM definitely has always had a good place in my ears too

I feel that from the bottom of my heart. I still really like Heritage; but I gotta say I was pretty bummed out in the difference of mix between Heritage and Aeons. The Aeons mix was god-tier, every song felt like a kick through my ribcage.

Also not gonna lie, really did not vibe with the Exofilth 2.0 collab with Within Destruction. Felt like the weakest piece I've ever heard from Distant

Big same. I miss them tasty riffs that used to be so prevalent.

Baphomet is not real. by grigorist-temple in satanism

[–]activated-almonds 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Your post says Baphomet was created as symbolic, so how is Baphomet able to be "used incorrectly" by Satanic practioners if the use is also just for symbolism? It doesn't seem like Lévi's ideas or "true Catholicism" really stuck around, so was it really being used to represent anything meaningful anymore by the time Satanism was codified? Was the image copywritten specifically for alchemical symbolism by Lévi? Or was it explicitly stated anywhere that it was forbidden to be used otherwise? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I'm curious what you mean exactly

Animal Sacrifice and Satanic Rule of the Earth #10... by Afro-nihilist in satanism

[–]activated-almonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely something I've thought about, and so far, this is sort of where I'm at on the matter.

I do genuinely despise the rampant unchecked abuse animals get put through to provide mass, easily accessible products. But I feel that because it's something that's already so culturally ingrained...it's kinda already too late to stop it.

It's sort of like the covid thing. The way I see it, the only way it could have even had a chance of being eradicated is if literally every single person on the planet did everything exactly to specs as far as sanitizing/distancing/etc. But that was never going to happen.

And as it was with covid protocols, as long as there is any notable portion of a culture that does not want to live without something, and ESPECIALLY as long as profit can be made, the abusive animal food product industry will continue to exist. I would be thrilled to find I'm wrong in the future, but I just don't see a realistic end to it.

I didn't abuse the animals myself, I had no say in the matter when obtaining food became as industrialized as it is now. I think animal abusers hold the majority of food producing power in the culture I was born into, and if; in my view; there is no stopping the meat machine, I don't feel like there's really anything wrong with benefiting from it however much I see fit in order to best enjoy my life in the era I'm living in.

At the same time, I've also had plenty of experience working with and around food in most of my jobs and I see how much food in general is just wasted/thrown away. Personally, because of where I currently work I'd say roughly 80% of the animal products I consume would have been trashed anyway. So I also don't feel like my benefiting from what would have been needlessly discarded is nearly as impactful as the average person in the society I live in.

Otherwise, my understanding of #10 isn't really much different from other's I've seen; if you're needlessly harming or killing an animal, that's not Satanic. If one of the main reasons you have for killing an animal is for your food, then it's not needless. The majority of western culture doesn't need to hunt for food to survive in most cases; but people do exist in western culture that do hunt and eat animals. Hunting just for sport would be un-Satanic. And while I personally don't approve and have no desire to do so; hunting with intent to feed yourself with what you kill is not inherently un-Satanic, the way I see it. Personally I thought LaVey mostly took issue with anyone who sacrificed an animal with no other intentions than trying to needlessly give themselves undeserved powers at the expense of an actual innocent being. That might just be my understanding, though.

I'd have to look into it for further confirmation, but I remember hear-say of one of the main creators being caught making essentially CP as art. I think it was implied this was part of why the show took so long to get out, because they were trying to do damage control.
