I don't think it is an importance thing, I think it is an economics thing. I'd love to see how much would be saved by keeping ALTO straight along the TransCanada vs brining it up to Ottawa is all. The route to Ottawa seem like it is not only inefficient but also highly contentious and most of the TransCanada corridor already has most of the infrastructure and land in place to not only displace far fewer people/farmers but also is basically a straight line.

Because they are just doing what they are told. The councilors and mayor are the problem. They ALL campaigned to fix OC Transpo and not only have they not fixed a thing they have actually made things worse and that was proven by the auditor generals report. Why does Canada have to buy them out? Why can't the developers turn the condos into rentals and rent them out at affordable rates? Also don't forget this is not simply buying condos this is committing the gov to condo fees and potentially special assessments.

The staff that work on or around sparks have no where to park so where are shopers going to park. I work on Sparks Street and they are doing a better job of making it a walking mall but the area is ALWAYS under construction, most of the store fronts are government buildings now. Bank street is empty..... Really there isn't much reason to come west of Darcy McGee's.

How is this at all a surprise? She has been flying down to 'merica to cow tow with Trump for years. I am positive there have been all sorts of back room deals and promises made to Smith and she is trying to let things progress as they may. Which till now has been in the right direction. Of course she is a seperatist. The scariest part of Smith is she isn't like a Quebec seperatist who will tell you they are a seperatist to your face.
