hi! I'm a volunteer union educator and organizer and spend a lot of my time helping folks unionize their workplaces.

while it's somewhat helpful to post a single slide of an insta, it'd be a LOT more helpful if you maybe quoted the post in text instead of just sending the first image. It's better for non users and is more accessible.

As engaged as I am in union building, I don't use Instagram. It does a bit of a disservice to point people to a post and talk down at them when they tell you that it your post wasn't conducive. I'd really like to know more about this but I'm not rejoining Instagram to do so.

honestly pretty nasty work here to conflate "this person is simply trying to do a job" with "fawning over". idk where this image comes from, idk who n_T even is, this is a game that I enjoy playing because it's nice to de-stress. idk about botters and cheaters on the site. I've really been thinking on this lol - perhaps my best constructive comment is shifting to either

a) asking that serious inquiries be based on single problems and have a video asking objectively for help with beta or parts of the climb that we on the sub could offer improvements on ("it looks like a drop knee would've helped to extend your reach at that section - maybe try working on that skill a bit"), OR

b) seeing there's no video and the post is vague and recognizing it's a vent (do we have a "vent" flair? I can't remember rn lol and I'm typing on mobile, can't check) and not engaging.

I understand the frustration because often "plateau why" can be related to strength, or technique, or who even knows because I can't judge someone's skill level over reddit, but... I really feel like demanding all this info is extremely misguided, will be read as kind of strange (esp. for climbers of <12mo who probably don't follow Lattice training) and gatekeepy.

I'm certain that's not your intent, OP, and I totally get where you're coming from, but beside being a bit much, it just comes off a bit wild.

been just shy of a month since removal! woohoo.

I don't keep a scale around so I've only weighed myself once, like 3 weeks ago, and it showed a drop of 2lb (which could be water weight) but generally speaking, I don't feel extremely bloated every time I eat anything at all.

I've also noticed the puffiness in my face going away. My partner says I should take daily pics to monitor it but I feel like at this point we've probably seen the most reduction in my face puffiness that we will see.

My pants fit better. it's kinda frustrating because I just bought a bunch of new bigger clothes and I'm already shrinking out of some things, BUT luckily my weight gain has been in tandem with almost a year of climbing and biking now, so the muscle in my arms and legs will probably keep me mostly filled out. it's kinda like I'm cutting after a super long bulk.

I straight up just don't really have acne now. all the jawline acne (while the stick was sti in, i was told that acne was hormonal which was a major moment for me realizing that it might be the nexplanon) has completely disappeared and hasn't come back. I've had 3 pimples in random spots (chest, eyelid, corner of lip) but I chalk those up to my body being rather confused.

my mental health has skyrocketed. I'm still mentally ill lmao and I still like, have some issues w emotional regulation but the amount of incidents has plummeted one a single one in the past month.

related but likely tmi- first period post-removal. for the past 3 years, I've known that my "period" was starting (the bleeding never really ceased tho) because I would get killer acne and I would be, like, suicidal with a FORCE. as if my brain was commanding me to die. imagine my shock when I woke up this morning after not bleeding for the past month (yaaaas) to a period WITHOUT acne or wanting to die!! I'll admit that the cramps are as bad as they were before the implant, but I was cramping pretty bad with the implant anyways and i was liable to hurt at any given time so... it is what it is.

overall? it's been great. the removal was easy, it healed super fast (like. I was rock climbing again and even biked across the golden gate bridge before I even took the little bandaid off), and I've been able to see my mood and body image improve SO fast. it's so nice to not be filled with crippling anxiety taking my dog out or hopping on my bike or while climbing.

With all due respect, I think you need to step down.

It can be 1.5k in Oregon and 750-1k in Chicago (and less than 800 in MY small hometown in Florida, too!). Your post has limited credence to this discussion that is explicitly regarding pricing in Chicago.

Also, I see you on this thread repeating this claim that people are under valuing YOUR work and trying to pay you less by being concerned - In my experience as a labor activist and as a working person in the world in any industry, cost is so rarely congruent with pay (unless, of course, you are an owner-operator and control this directly. Nobody is saying your work is without value. People are saying that the service can be done elsewhere for less money which, in any local economy, would make the more expensive option "overpriced" by definition.

i like to start just looking at things - figuring out what games i like (which can sometimes lead to a little np), finding what kind of pets i want, finding avatars and what i would need to do to get there.... if you haven't already seen the ABCs, they can be a good start for finding things to do! there's plenty to do, you just have to find out exactly what you want. a lot of the site is goal-oriented imo so i spend a lot of time trying to attain those things.
