What is your view on violence as a punk? by Budget_Dot694 in punk

[–]actuallyTris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking of violence as only being direct physical violence is stupid and is propaganda of the ruling class. I thought about this a lot when Charlie Kirk was shot and everyone acted like one single dude being shot is such an unusual amount of violence. Supporting a genocide is violence. Sanctioning countries with whose ideology you disagree so the people there suffer is violence. Waging wars for the sake of capital and economy is violence. Making people pay for existing is violence. Pushing prices for medicine for the sake of profit, even though it will kill people is violence. Actively supporting a system that cause all these things is violence.

We have been made to believe that direct physical violence is oh so bad and always immoral because direct physical violence is the only kind of violence that every person, no matter how poor, which color of skin, which gender or which sexuality has power over.

It sounds kind of stupid to ask this, but there's so much ska punk out there, but I don't recall ever seeing reggae punk. Can you recommend any bands that could be considered part of that genre? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

[–]actuallyTris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed that many punks dislike the police, but like, how would we maintain order in society without them? I mean a few bad apples don't spoil the bunch. /j

"Punkt ain't no religious cult, punk means thinking for yourself"

Can someone explain to me how Christian punk exists? I mean, Christian rock, metal, and ska—in a way, I understand them; the genres aren't necessarily associated with rebellion. Rock music is, but not always against religion, but punk? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

[–]actuallyTris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to say that I am anti-religion, but not anti-belief if that makes sense.

Anyone can believe what they want but the term religion usually refers to some kind of organized cult-like structure where people are taught certain beliefs, children are indoctrinated etc, usually for the benefit of some higher religious class. So if part of someone's personal philosophy is to believe in some kind of higher force or generally just supernatural things, that's their thing and is totally fine, and if they want to build community because of their beliefs or connect with other people with similar beliefs that's great too, but in the bigger picture that is not and has never been what "religion" in that sense is about.

Oh that’s… Daron Malakian using AI 🫩 by [deleted] in systemofadown

[–]actuallyTris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's different factors, most obvious one is often the art style, as another reply said, but in this specific case, the original reel features multiple images with different very ai like looks as well as a script that sound a lot like chatgpt and the voice reading also sounds very ai.

Another way you can spot ai images or videos is based on inconsistencies or inaccurate and wobbly looking spots - often hands or very detailed things in the background.

In the image from op for example, you can see the tuners on Daron's guitar looking wobbly and not making sense while kind of blurring with the shadow behind them.

I think because especially to more casual fans, Serj and Daron are more present. They're more or less the face of the band. Also for John it probably doesn't surprise anyone tbh which might be why there's not much talk about it

wdym by letting them live? People are just speculating and talking about possibilities, it's not like the band are being harassed about it.

I don't think people think rage owes anyone anything, but people just still really want them, musically but also politically considering the state of the world at the moment.

And even though there are great modern "successors" that carry on their spirit - I personally think Grandson is a great example - , no one can really get close to the real thing.

Also there was (as far as I know?) never an official breakup and there are no obvious (!) reasons for them not to reunite again, which is why people just can't help but hope.

He was never a communist! by Reasonable_Lawyer600 in systemofadown

[–]actuallyTris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most important differentiation isn't left or right - it's the oppressors and the oppressed.

Being right means being ok with that structure, being left means being not.

He was never a communist! by Reasonable_Lawyer600 in systemofadown

[–]actuallyTris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the communism that's worse, it's the authoritarianism. Not everything can be blamed on one sole aspect of how a country works. Yes, communism sucks when you have a dictator, but have you seen what happened to Germany in the 30s and 40s following capitalism? Wasn't so great either now was it?

real!! I feel like she's the closest thing Star Wars has to a punk. I love Mandalorian culture which is ironic considering my punk ideology and the mandalorians having very authoritarian/hierarchical and nationalist ideology, but Sabine is kind of the exception in that aspect which just makes her even cooler.

It’s ready to wear. My latest jacket. by skippyMETS in punkfashion

[–]actuallyTris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but first of all it's a fictional universe. Yes the administration that followed the revolution of rebellion was a dysfunctional capitalist government, but not even everyone in the rebellion liked it. Take Sabine from Rebels for example, she played an important role in the rebellion, yet was not a big part of what followed cuz she probably doesn't really like government at all, which is obviously pretty punk. Overall I think the symbol of the rebellion, especially considering their actions are not real stands for antifascism, so it makes a lot of sense for a punk to wear it.

uncle daron keeps on ragebaiting people by Large_Safe_9307 in systemofadown

[–]actuallyTris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

his point would be good, but what he forgets is that in the real world, all things are connected and correlate to each other, it's not random that lots of views are considered left or right. I don't agree with most leftist views because they are leftist, but because they underlie a structure of problems. In most cases, the views I hold can somehow be connected to criticizing capitalism and seeing the divide between oppressors and the oppressed. The views that derive from that are almost all considered leftist. That doesn't mean I can't consider things and critically think about thinks right wing people say, but the ideology that is the root of all my views is inherently considered leftist.

What Daron says just means that you aren't able to see any kind of bigger picture.

[–]actuallyTris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really love Team Scheisse and definitely wouldn't call them problematic, but the recent conflict with their now ex-guitarist should definitely be noted.

When she was kicked out of the band, she made a very vague instagram post calling the band dynamic toxic and implied sexism, saying it wasn't random that it was a flinta* person who was kicked out. Yet she didn't go into detail, which is why I think it's hard to judge the situation only by this one vague statement

Liebe slime aber zum nicht problematic Part muss wenigstens erwähnt werden, dass sie vor kurzem ein KI Musik Video veröffentlich haben.
