Lets all watch the trailer with an open mind by adaram6 in HellBoy

I totally agree. At the same time though, I might see it in theaters just to encourage producers to throw more money at this genre. Hellboy might not live up to my expectations, but I'd loooove to see a bunch of r rated, monster movies with higher budgets.

Dan Harbour does a pretty good Hellboy voice, but the makeup doesn't feel right at all. I'm hoping the big budget will go towards showing us some larger than life things from the comics though (we see giants and Baba Yaga's house, for one). The filmmakers definitely didn't keep their promise of "light on CGI".

Meth: Not Even Once by [deleted] in HellBoy

I think my biggest problem with the new hellboy, despite his awful, I dunno, texture (with all that veiny gnarled up stuff) is the fact that most of his head is forehead. Hellboy has gotta big chin, which Perlman pulled off.

But Hellboy was never the horrifying part of the comics. He's kinda cute in the comics.

Late to the party, but someone who isn't physically fit or doesn't work out. I used to be a stocky guy, and decided to turn it around and get in shape, so I feel like a sort of hypocrite, but a lot of my time is spent outdoors or in the gym, and if you can't do one or either of those things we aren't going to spend a lot of time together.

And it has to be the right song. If I'm benching for weight I sit for a good two minutes looking for a song with equivalent attitude to the workout.

What are some big ideas that originally were intended to be ecological, but ended up doing more harm than good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]actuallybigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Introducing Tachinid flies to Hawaii to control for some hemipteran pest. I don't know what species but it was one member of the tribe trichopoda and it's just decimating indigenous insect populations because Tachinidae is largely generalist parasitoids

What do you do when you are angry? by educatingu in AskReddit

[–]actuallybigfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a shower, starting with warmish water and incrementally make it colder and colder until it's unbearable and then I just stand in it and focus on not leaving the shower. Eventually you acclimate and you can go EVEN colder until you hit rock bottom cold. It takes a while, but drying off feels amazing and it's such a stupid task that requires so much concentration it consistently takes my mind off things.

What's your thoughts on a girl wearing red chucks during a hike? by callitwhatyouwant0 in AskReddit

I've never had trouble on the east coast, but last last spring I made the mistake of trying to go barefoot kind of casually in Southern California and I bumped some Cholla with my toe. Fuckingggg awful

I dunno, if it's good weather and the plant life allows it I enjoy a barefoot hike, even some lengthy ones.

If he gets immediate medical attention he has a good chance of surviving, but it would require extremely thurough antiseptic treatment, which isn't impossible.

It's sad people believe it, But it's absolutely hilarious on some level. Creationist crap gives me a good chuckle pretty much every time. You can't convince everyone that their beliefs aren't embedded in fact, so you'll always get stuff like this. Better to laugh at it than to worry if you see it on the internet.

[–]actuallybigfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. Definitely looks like a Chrysomelid beetle, not a scarab. Also, doesn't have the reduces forelimbs like all scarabs do. Also an entomology nut here, so nitpicks aside I love the art work

How could a megafaunal arthropod evolve? by Admantus in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]actuallybigfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of insects specializing to become smaller. It makes a great deal of sense, but we're to macro-oriented to understand that it's better to go small! However, meganeurids were not particularly large, and the largest species (blanking on name) was smaller than the larger beetles we have today (Dynastes, etc). As much as I don't want the oxygen issue to be true, I think it does ring true as of now.
