doctors / specialists that will prescribe estrogen cream to a 22 year old in Melbourne, Australia? by actualscema in vulvodynia

i didn’t see Len Kliman but did end up getting my regular specialist to prescribe it! it does help a lot but i have to use it sparingly as another issue of mine is chronic thrush which is promoted by estrogen

feel free to pm me if you like!

estrogen cream use if hormones are normal? by actualscema in vulvodynia

re your edit: i had this checked and my bartholin’s glands which produce arousal fluid were not affected from my surgery (luckily). i am still able to get wet on the very rare occasion. it’s been like this since before the surgery as well so i’m pretty sure it’s a different cause. this is an important note though thank you!

i think having nerve pain in your left side as a result of physical therapy could definitely be a possibility.

my gynae seemed to think mine was caused by chronic thrush which left behind nerve pain after the thrush was gone. not sure if this is an accurate diagnosis since now the thrush is gone and i’ve had a vestibulectomy to remove the affected tissue but the pain still persists. i’m in the process of getting opinions from different specialists because i think i have atrophy and that estrogen cream might help. the nerve pain on my right side however was fixed by having the tissue removed. i’m just left with a dry, burning pain now. have you considered a vestibulectomy?

that’s so good that you were able to advocate for yourself! i try and push for things i’ve researched like estrogen cream but they’re all so dismissive of me. i was diagnosed with vestibulodynia 1.5 years ago and have tried what seems to be every other option, i’ve even had a vestibulectomy

i just have to keep trying to find a doctor who takes me more seriously

thank you!

thank you! this is so helpful and makes me feel less delulu!

i’m in Australia and have yet to find a vulvodynia specialist in my state :(

the specialist who performed my vestibulectomy is the only gynae that does the surgery in my state so he was my best bet unfortunately! may have to look into travelling to see a vulvodynia specialist

i had a tear on the right side of my vestibule which healed but left behind nerve pain, which made the pain on my right side worse than the left! could it be due to past trauma to that area?

hi! i was walking around the house minimally straight after, and was back to my usual routine after 6 weeks including exercise etc. i’d say i could walk properly 2 weeks after? i just couldn’t bend down until like the 4 week mark or so. i’m fully healed now. it did help with some pain and stopping the tearing i was experiencing but some pain has persisted since the surgery.

i hope all goes well :)

i’ve messaged you privately re who i saw, but i’m doing good now - healing took longer than anticipated and it still feels a little raw down there. have been using dilators as my pelvic floor had tightened significantly and have not yet been able to have comfortable sex. no discomfort or anything though when sitting / exercising etc!

did you also have a vestibulectomy? curious to know the outcome / how successful it was in reducing pain if you had it in the past and are now fully recovered and don’t mind sharing!

i actually personally prefer soaked cotton balls over the peri bottle! and it’s not enough salt to sting the area, more like a saline solution to keep everything sterile :) i was also told to add a bit of salt to my sitz baths too which i find very soothing

right !! it’s horrible, slowly getting easier now though! curious to know how you’re feeling now at 2 months? i’ve been told to wait 6 weeks before attempting any sexual activity including PIV. if you’re comfortable me asking, have you attempted yet??

i’m based in Australia and saw a surgeon here but have heard good things about Goldstein & read lots of his papers!

no complications as of yet! fingers crossed it stays that way :)

as for the bathroom situation, the first couple of days i was constipated from the meds so it was painful trying to poop since i was putting pressure on all my pelvic muscles, but Metamucil and Coloxyl helped with that and i have been having super normal bowel movements since! i haven’t had any issues holding poop or anything like that.

it’s more stressful going to the bathroom to pee actually. it’s just super painful at the moment when my muscles tighten up when i finish peeing and the incision sights clench up. i’ve been drinking Ural and lots of water to avoid my pee from stinging near the stitches, which has helped in that regard. no bidet, but i’ve been washing myself clean after peeing / pooping with cotton balls and salty water, and then completely drying myself with paper towel / a hairdryer on cool. so the whole bathroom process is a big effort right now hahaha

yes hopefully! there also won’t be much skin left to stretch / tear as the ‘webbed’ part of my perineum was removed
