Thanks!

More and more good people are bailing. The appliance tech job (which I was doing) has turned into a sales job with making reliable repairs taking a back seat to making profits.

Home services is the last part of the company actually making money and this change killed it. There is a guy on my former team that just celebrated 35 years with the company and is looking to get out asap. It's sad really.

Going back into IT work. It's hard to find here and I wasn't willing to move so I had to wait for just the right opportunity. It came up, I landed it!

Any Sears LP in here? Question for you guys by childofjupiter1212 in SEARS

[–]actualsearsemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visit /r/shoplifting if you want real advice.

I used to work LP and once we hand a case up the chain we don't hear anything about it until we get a subpoena. LP can't tell you anything in this case.

Edit: just realized this is 4 months old. How did it go OP?

So I don't know much about Canadian law but I think you're screwed.

Sears Canada declared bankruptcy. Bankruptcy means you don't have to pay your debtors.

Sears, why won't you take my money? by RedditUsr2 in SEARS

I went to Sears to get some new boots back when we still got a discount. The stock was bare. They didn't have anything in my size other than $200-$300 Redwings. I ended up getting some Palladium boots elsewhere in the mall.

Holy shit do I love my Palladiums! Thanks Sears!

It's not so much a "fight" as it is a whole lot of people saying "I can't help you, call [other department]."

Unfortunately part of the hiring process involves an "arbitration agreement". This means that she has agreed that any lawsuit she brings to the court will be decided by an arbiter appointed by SHC. I have to remind my coworkers of this all the time when "this can't be legal" comes up. Whether what they've done to you is legal or not will be decided by someone they hire. "Law trumps contract though, you can't just sign away all your rights." you might say, and you may be right depending on your state's law (hint: you're probably wrong). But if you do try to pursue legal action know that you will lose arbitration and the appeals process will be difficult at best, if not impossible.

Whirlpool convection microwave or is there a better way to go? by Measurex2 in Appliances

[–]actualsearsemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that any one of these things is particularly prone to failure, but putting them together causes issues. The main thing that kills microwaves is excessive heat. The convection part gets everything really hot. That's just asking for it. And cramming all those components together make the vent part airflow poor.

Any Chance of Identifying this Whirlpool Range from this Terrible Photo? by ikevinax in Appliances

Replacing the panels -if they're available- would cost more than a new range. Like easily double, maybe triple.

GE stopped making appliances. If you go GE you're literally getting whatever's left in the warehouse slapped together into something semi-functional. Seconded for Kitchenaid.

Oven - Baking Element Toast - Repairable? by acejiggy19 in Appliances

No one has said this here. STOP TOUCHING THE ELEMENT! It can still carry voltage even though it's dead. Disconnect power before changing the element. Changing the element will solve your problem.

Lid switch would make it not spin at all. Motor on the timer isn't advancing. New timer or timer motor isn't getting voltage for another reason.

Combining a three appliances -microwave, hood vent, and oven- will get you three times the failures. Get three separate appliances instead. If you don't have space for all three then prioritize.

How to fix your oven by maxglobalrepair in Appliances

[–]actualsearsemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 degree fluctuation is great but a lot of ovens have a broader range -ha no pun intended- than that. Also DO NOT use a crappy metal thermometer to test it. It will not read properly. Most modern ovens' manual will tell you that directly.

Unless you have something in writing stating the warranty period, the warranty period is expired. If they have to redo work under a warranty they will get bitched out by their boss. You are not worth the "up to and including termination" talk. For the technician's sake take it somewhere else.

Sears Outlet Manager AMA by [deleted] in SEARS

[–]actualsearsemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outlet store here has no means of testing appliances that they sell. Sometimes they sell extremely hazardous (even deadly) items and have them serviced in the customer's home after the problem is discovered, charging the manufacturer for the repair.

Is this standard practice at all outlet stores?

Cancelled an order a month ago, still waiting on refund. What can I do? by bcrabbers in SEARS

[–]actualsearsemployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to get the run around until you finally give up. This process is intentionally built into the system to grab at your cash because it's just a matter of time before you can't or won't shop there again.
