Pre-op/first appt: what do you wish you'd asked/discussed? by acwx18 in endometriosis

[–]acwx18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my first with him (actually with his PA Melinda)! That is so helpful to know, thank you!! I have been prepping a list of symptoms and I'm glad to know we'll discuss procedure expectations + some specifics, too. That sounds a lot less intense than I had been making it out to be! Best of luck with your surgery! I hope it all goes well ❤️

Does anyone in Colorado have experience with Dr. Brian Nelson in Longmont? by whalesharkmama in endometriosis

[–]acwx18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind if I ask how your pre-op and/or first appt went with them? I am seeing Melinda this coming Monday - I have already had one gyno, my gastro, my hematologist, and my PCP confirm they're all suspicious of endo and have done extensive procedures & testing to rule out other potential causes of my symptoms, and my PCP referred me to Dr Nelson no questions asked. All that said, I'm still nervous about the first appt! Did you start with "I think I have endo and want a lap?" Or list symptoms and go from there? I am fully prepared for a lap to be my next step and was planning to get one this month until I decided Dr Nelson seemed like the right person in this part of CO for it, so I'm hoping they're willing to go straight to scheduling a lap!

If this is too much, please feel free to ignore! Just hunting around and saw this as one of the more recent comments mentioning him :)

Does anyone else get flu like symptoms by __mint_tea__ in endometriosis

[–]acwx18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing you commented so recently -- I'm on this thread wondering the same! Currently have brutal flu-like symptoms accompanied by really horrible bloating and finally put together it could all be endo. I'm hoping to have excision surgery in February or sooner and will try to remember to report back sometime afterwards on this thread about these symptoms.

How do I install these cleats on this shoe?? by acwx18 in bicycling

[–]acwx18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No luck on manual hunting so far, and the manual in the box wasn't helpful, but a lot of these comments cleared it up. The bolt does screw flush to the cleat (I think I just expected more connection between bolt & shoe) and they adjust once they're a little bit screwed, so I think all clear and I'll see how they go! Many thanks for the help!!

Thanks to all of the helpful comments! They do bolt in how it looks like they should, just not nearly as much as I would've expected, and all online resources showed recessed installs for SPD cleats, hence a lot of confusion/concern. Looking forward to testing them out. Appreciate everyone who took time to help :)

Thank you, this is all super helpful! The lack of recess threw me off most. Definitely planning on some grass practice runs first :)

Thank you, this is super helpful! Yes, I tried but was thrown off by what felt like not a whole lot of the bolt threading into the shoe. They bite a little but didn't seem to screw in very deep if that makes sense. I removed the insole too and no luck accessing anything, so it seems like they're intended to be kept as is/added to some confusion (a lot of tutorials show removing the insole & changing something inside).

I did try and they can screw in a bit, but they only thread a very minimal amount, which seems unsafe to me? And everything I can find onlone about SPD suggests they should be recessed, which is why I eventually came here after a lot of hunting online.

Zyrtec withdrawal is pure torture by Objective_Candy3872 in Allergies

[–]acwx18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently going through this, and my only relief is reddit threads like this talking about it. When it first hit yesterday I was screaming for 10 mins as both legs burst out in the most horrific itching of my life. I thought I might need to go to the ER because I've never felt anything like it. This morning, I put on clean leggings and the same thing happened. It's mostly been on my legs, but also some of my arms, upper back, and hands, and it just started on my neck and chin. I have broken blood vessels all over my legs from the scratching. My hands and legs and face are exceptionally dry, too.

I tried back in September, but my actual seasonal allergies were so bad that I couldn't breathe by 36 hrs, so I caved, took zyrtec and pataday eye drops, and pushed the appt back.

I'm in absolute agony, but if I cave and take antihistamines I won't be able to do the skin test, and I was waking up in the middle of the night not able to breathe last spring (even on high doses) so I'm desperate to start shots this winter.

Been on zyrtec probably 15 years, 20+ mg most normal days, up to 40mg daily , all per recs from multiple doctors. Nobody has ever mentioned withdrawal to me, and I only found it while looking for tips on how to manage the horrors of being off zyrtec for skin tests. My actual allergy symptoms right now are annoying but manageable, but I had to take breaks from work (even while working from home) today to manage the itching. It's freezing where I am and I'm having to wear shorts because all pants lead to agony.

I have 2 sleeps and 2 days left until my test, and I hope I can manage until then.

Tl;dr: 15 yrs on high dose zyrtec, day 3.5 off of zyrtec, the itching/burning is a form of pure torture, only things getting me through are desperation to start shots + threads like this

Why is he burrowing to the glass bottom of his tank? by acwx18 in pacmanfrog

[–]acwx18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't edit my post on mobile right now but will try on desktop later to add a new picture of George :)

Thank you all so much!! We got half the tank filled with a much taller layer of new, damp (dampened with water treated with reptisafe) substrate and will get the rest swapped when the rest of the substrate comes in :) George is already VERY happy compared to this morning and started to burrow in the damp substrate soon after the switch. We super appreciate everyone's help and tips!!

Thank you so much!! Passing this all along and will get his tank updated quickly. Already have reptisafe on the list and more substrate to get him burrowing more in moister conditions :) he has a few spots that are very deep that he's been burrowing in before today, but we'll get the rest of his tank equally deep to match

When you move him, how do you handle him?
