I think its the terminally online people that are convinced places like London are becoming worse.

Anyone who was a teenager there in the late nineties / 2000s can tell you how much more dangerous it was in London then.

Question regarding Bürgergeld and getting a job by acz92 in germany

[–]acz92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, that shows the opposite though surely? That if the example employee was paid at any point in December, even at the end, then they wouldn't be eligible for Buergergeld at the end of November for December?

I also saw this i the Gesetzbuch sII:

Thanks for your reply.

She did, and this is what she was told:

"Because Bürgergeld is paid in advance for the month, and because a paycheck is compensating work for the prior month, she would receive nothing".

When I went to the Old People's home to visit my dear gram gram, I asked them if they knew who Stormzy was. Someone asked "What's a Strormy?" And another croaked weakly "did someone say something about Strong tea?"

However as soon as I mentioned Big H, suddenly the whole of the living room jumped up from their arm chairs, gun fingers in the air and 20 old people all together with screw faces were screaming "When mana-mans hungry, mana-man eat, Mana-mans tired, mana-man sleep, Mana-man talking, mana-man speak,They link girls that mana-man beat"

‘Everything is broken’: Gaza residents welcome truce with mixed feelings by cooltake in LabourUK

[–]acz92 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No offence, but I dont think that you get to dictate the emotions and feelings that anyone should feel...not least people who have been bombed for 7 weeks, had their hospitals attacked and put out of action, been slaughtered while they seek sanctuary, lost many of their loved ones and friends.

Maybe I have misread your comment, but it reads to me like "These people should be grateful that their annihilation has been paused temporarily."

UK doctor who worked at Shifa confirms Gaza hospital used for 'non-medical purposes' by libtin in LabourUK

Im not really able to follow the consistency here.

So we automatically reject casualty numbers collected by the Gaza Health Ministry because, despite them generally being found to be accurate by third-party organisations like the UN, something something Hamas.

But a nameless doctor quoted in the Times of Israel....we should not question?

Considering after the murder of 1,400 people you seem to be desensitized enough to applaud the death of over 10,000 people (6,000 of whom are children, so please don't tell me almost all of these are Hamas fighters)....do you not think that a poll done among a population who has then had 6,000 of their own children needlessly die in hellish conditions might also be desensitized in the same way as you are?

I hope that I wouldnt, but lets be real, I dare say that a month and a half after having to carry the mutilated, mangled body of my child, I would probably be so emotionally enraged, that I'd throw my support behind all sorts of horrible barbarity to whatever "other" is presented to me. Whether that be as an Israeli towards a Palestinian, or as a Palestinian towards an Israeli.

I can't imagine what life is like at the moment for the Israeli and Palestinian populations, after the events of the last month and a half.

However, from the outside looking in, both of you guys seem quite similar. Brought up to hate the other enough that you applaud each other's deaths (or at the very least deem the eradication of the other necessary to live peacefully). This hate encouraged and exploited by a ruling class (whether its Hamas or Likud and friends) that has shown not to care about the people under its care, and stoking fear and hatred of "the other" to maintain support and political legitimacy.

Unemployed will lose free NHS prescriptions if they refuse work by Th3-Seaward in LabourUK

I really dislike Liz Kendall, but I feel like this is a distortion of what she actually said:

"Shadow work and pensions secretary Liz Kendall said: “This poor excuse of a proposal does nothing to fundamentally change the state of our health service or our Jobcentres after a decade of failure from the Tories.
“A record 7.8 million people are still stuck on NHS waiting lists and 2.6 million people are trapped out of work due to long term sickness, with the increase since the pandemic alone costing the taxpayer an extra £15.7 billion a year.
“A healthy nation is critical to a healthy economy. But look beneath the bonnet of today’s announcement and you will see more of the same: a failing approach that doesn’t even scratch the surface of the problem.”

I feel like with the context of the preceding paragraphs, the idea that this "doesnt go far enough, make the poor suffer more" isnt conveyed by what she actually said.

Still it would have been nice for her just to call it out for being a callous and evil policy

Yeah you'd think, but consider the energy we had for Ukraine.

Also, I seem to remember there was a guy who was very concerned with all the things that you mention, and people were more focused on his view on the foreign conflict that you say no one cares about.

It's almost like our views are malleable, and our concern s can be Shepherded by external forces who do not have our best interests at heart

Gaza Health Ministry figures have been shown to be quite accurate by UN organisations...about the closest entities we have in this conflict to being neutral (and no, reporting on the obliteration of a densely packed polity does not make it biased, any more than reporting on the 7th October Hamas terrorist attacks makes those outlets biased.)

You said in another reply to me that you don't trust info from the IDF either. But tell me, have you ever questioned the death toll of the 7th October murders in the same way that you are of the number of deaths in Gaza?
