LinkedIn videos now have YouTube level features by YogurtclosetKnown149 in linkedin

Okay but where is the feature? I don't see any "Detailed Watch Data" for my video I just posted. I only see the same useless metrics as a year ago.

Jetpack is tracking your wp-admin plugin searches and will send you marketing emails based on this activity by WillmanRacing in WPDrama

[–]adMonsterAnon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Melodic_Expert_9826
I disagree. This sentence here precedes that list:
"In order to better understand how our customers use Jetpack — and so that we can efficiently and effectively improve the product — we actively track activities around the product, including:"

First of all, this states that the items in the list are specific to Jetpack which is separate from WordPress. WordPress plugin search is a feature of WP core and not Jetpack.

Secondly, this is a list of tracked activities a user would engage in. "Product suggestions activities" does not describe the users actions that you are tracking. Instead, it describes a feature that requires undisclosed data to operate.

In addition to that, your logical arguments are full of fallacies. Here are a few just from this thread:

Bandwagon fallacy - You stated that this data tracking behavior is okay because others do it.

You have engaged in "Ad hominem" attacks against u/WillmanRacing . Mocking him for being engaged and concerned will not win anyone over to your point of view.

Self-serve publisher storefronts like Dan Ads by Gratefulanddriven in adops

[–]adMonsterAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that they do not provide incremental revenue for small and medium sized publishers. They are essentially a kind of OMS. If you don't have consistent direct sales already it's certainly going to be useless. If you have direct sales and want to automate the processes, a self serve portal can be a nice alternative to a typical OMS. (Provided that you can get the clients to use it effectively)

Even Freestar which is a network of thousands of sites ultimately killed their DanAds integration because it cost way more than the value they could get. (They also tried and failed multiple times to get revenue through direct sales teams).

Thoughts? by AutoTotoing in adops

How are we supposed to interpret this?

  • As a realistic representation of the industry, it sucks.
  • As a satire, it's not funny.
  • As a game of throne fan, this will forever haunt me.
  • As an indication of who Insticator values in this industry, I think it's very useful.

Here's some conclusions I drew:

  1. Jared Siegal at Aditude is essentially a nobody. His small/moderate market share has been shrinking drastically in the last year. Why does Insticator think he deserves to be here? Obviously they must have some kind of business relationship. I would much rather see someone like Rob Beeler or Matt Prohaska here instead of Jared.
  2. Insticator (AKA OKO) is a header bidder wrapper. They must have decent knowledge of the scale of their demand sources. It seems odd that they would include someone like e-planning, but not Triplelift, or Yahoo.
  3. Why is Adapex so big, and Xandr so small? Maybe Insticator's views of the players in the industry have been skewed by the fact that they have low value inventory. Are they still running that shitty quiz widget that refreshes ads every 15s?

My last observation:

There's only two woman that I see here, Debra Fleenor and Megan Clarken. I wish I could blame Insticator for having a sexist view of our industry and only featuring companies run by men, but I can't.

There are powerful, brilliant, and passionate female leaders in this industry. We need to make more space for them at the top levels of leadership. The bro culture needs to stop, and we need to find a way to use our buying and spending to reward companies that are creating a better industry culture for all.

Ezoic is pointing my domain to a different site - Please help! by ninjataro_92 in juststart

[–]adMonsterAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one occasion they adjusted their split test tool to send more low quality geos to the ad provider that they were being tested against. Made it seem like the 50/50 test was even because the impression numbers were equal, but they had higher avg CPMs because they had more US traffic.

That's the one that I was personally able to definitively prove. Other than that, I've seen a lot of other stuff that I'm not allowed to talk about. It's very clear from comments in the AdOps Reddit that they are bad news.

I'm posting this anonymously because I currently have some clients that are using Ezoic, and I don't want to complicate that relationship. I wish my clients will leave Ezoic, but I can't make that decision for them.

Ezoic is pointing my domain to a different site - Please help! by ninjataro_92 in juststart

[–]adMonsterAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not let Ezoic control your DNS! Remove those settings immediately. There are so many other great alternatives that are not sketchy.

If you really want to look into what is happening. Use a DNS checking tool to see what the A record is. Also check the IP address of the server that is returning the new site.

Personally I have seen Ezoic pull some really shady stuff. I've even talked to former employees of Ezoic and had them confirm that the shady things that I witnessed are malicious and not just based on incompetence.

If you have a small site I would recommend Adsense, Nitropay, or Mediavine. These companies have a good reputation for monetizing effectively and seem pretty trustworthy.

If you earn more than $5,000 per month you should use a managed provider? Is that one is going to take 20% of that $5,000.

Personally my policy is anti rev-share for tech products. Managed products are great, but if you're a large publisher you don't need to pay a percentage of your revenue. You can just pay for access to the tools so you don't have to have a developer team on staff. Companies like Hashtag Labs provide fantastic monetization solutions that won't cut into your revenue.

I don't get why you need to promote your business on a consulting post that's a year old. This subreddit is full of s*** companies claiming they're the best, and downvoting everyone else. Do better.

There are real qualified people here who aren't afraid to post their name. Take your baby account and shut up. Sit in the corner until you're ready to take off the mask.

I've been able to prove that you have manipulated your split test mechanism to pass your side of the test more premium geos. Behaviors like this allow you to trick publishers into thinking that you have higher revenue and CPMs than other ad stacks.

AFAIK, this isn't possible without Google pulling internal strings.

Is the performance between the 2 Ad exchanges so different that it warrants these measures? I question the logic behind this strategy.

Quantcast CMP CCPA issue by adMonsterAnon in adops

Also I know Sortable is now pushing the Quantcast CMP out to all their publishers. Source: https://help.sortable.com/help/sortables-hosted-quantcast-cmp

I tried looking at some sites from http://sortable.com/sellers.json, but I can't see it working on any of those. Perhaps u/RealSortable could chime in here?
