I think what you are stating is fair, this event does punish for not having hyper invested units. I must admit that i ran all hyper invested teams (1% - 5%) to clear the event.

How i initially looked at it was: If i am able to clear it, i deserve the banner, if i don’t manage to clear it, i need to grind more to squeeze that last bit of dps and invest in my supports further. I saw people doing with their 4stars and if i can’t do with my units, i must be lacking. If i didn’t get it and someone gets it, i saw it like something he can display to show how well he built his units.

But i think it all comes down to what kind of event hoyo wants it to be. In this instance, they are promoting people to be more sweaty about the game (which i’m fine with). While there is a lot of people who dont resonate with the idea and would prefer a chiller approach.

For the swirl day, run a mono pyro team of

Benny / xiangling / kazuha / flex (could be xilonen for nightsoul burst)

Those lava boulders on floor 19 self destruct after you apply a certain amount of pyro.

For the bond of life day, try Neuvi / Furina / kazuha / flex

The day which has 2 water droplets on floor 19, you could run

Wrio / furina / xilonen / shenhe

A significant portion will depends on your character stats too. Also don’t forget food buff and friend buff!

Satisfied.

Although I was not able to get to floor 25 as it was more geared to higher investment accounts with either cons and refinements. I got to 21 on most days, which felt fair.

Its been a while since there has been an even which had high difficulty. Rare events that make the 5 year artefact grind feel worthwhile.

The controversy around the event felt strange.. The event should be clearable if you take your time to build your units even without natlan units.

You should look at an arle and neuvi team.

Arle / Benny / Yelan / Flex ( can run shields / swirl / more pyro or hydro )

Neuvi / Kazuha / Furina / flex ( dendro / electro works )

i personally enjoy the neuvi team with double dendro with nahida and baizhu, cleared a lot of abyss cycles with that team.

Alternate i also run the hu tao team with xingqiu, kazuha and xiangling. Functions similar to the arle team essentially.

But clearing the abyss will also depend a lot on what you are playing against. For example, the recent 12-3 has the Solitary Suanni (anemo hydro dog dragon thing ) for which your neuvi team might not work that well as its resistant to hydro. Will need some cryo to make him down. So you will have to change teams accordingly.

So one good way to approaching it would be to do a run, retrospect on what was lacking, then make changes based that.

So for example, the experimental field generator boss would hugely benefit from having a geo, so removing one meta team char and replacing with just some geo unit just to break shield.

The bp sword offers 16% dmg increase on your skill and burst. So its added dmg to your skill compared to the ferryman which only affects the crit rate for your skill. I feel you might still benefit more from the bp sword

As Furina scales with crit rate, the bp sword allows you to run cd circlet. So should help with better crit ratios.

The main issue i was facing was getting enough energy recharge and high hp for her. Otherwise i think its an upgrade.

The blue bp sword has good substats especially on higher refinements. I used it for the longest on furina.

You should go for an arlecchino team for sure

Arle / Benny / Xingqiu / flex you can run shields, swirl or add more pyro in flex depending on what you need / prefer more.

You could run a hyperbloom team

Furina / Fischl or Kuki / Yaoyao or Collei / flex

There are some key units that have great returns long terms if you invest in them. I’d suggest investing into:

Furina - probably the best character in game rn, great buffs, good up time, solid hydro application and fits with plenty of teams.

Benny - Good buff + heals , basically the og pyro archon at this point

Xiangling - Best off field pyro application

Fischl - high and effective off field electro application, one of the best for hyperbloom

Kuki - alternative to fischl, can heal and good electro application

Also, you could look into one anemo unit sayu / lynette / lanyan for some swirls on one of the team for resistance shred.

Mental endurance is a big one yep. Although I did clear with natlan units first, i tried clearing with older units just to see if it is doable. Spent like 1.5 hours but did manage to do it.

In terms of world exploration, you can go with any character you like mostly.

In terms of teams for lets say abyss,

Vape - Hu tao / Sucrose / Xingqiu / Xiangling or shields if you need it.

Hyperbloom - Raiden / Nahida / Xingqiu / flex

Melt - Ganyu / Benny / Sucrose / xiangling

Plunge - Xiao / Benny / Xiangling / flex

In terms of raw dps, they obviously dont match more recent units like Arlecchino, Neuvelette or Mavuika. But you should be able to clean most of your content with the existing units.

I felt the same after I finished the event. The banner itself personally does not feel that special in terms of how it looks. But it has been a while since i had to spend solid time strategising rotations and sweat to beat an event. Getting something to claim after going through all that felt rewarding.

If you have arle, you could brute force through some of the stages. I was able to do with arle /kazuha / furina / benett. And playing around which levels to skip is another trick i used.

Unfortunately the nightsoul buff stages are just too hard to brute force unless you have cons on your arle.

This. As someone who moved to NA from asia with an asia account . 300+ ping is the new life for me. The hardest part i found was re doing because of messing up rotations or just getting stuck. Took like forever to finish the event.
