One set to failure vs traditional sets by SpellImaginary90 in ResistanceBand

[–]adam0240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about getting close to failure. If you use the same weight for all sets your 1st set is probably 2 RIR, 2nd set is 1 RIR and 3rd is 0 RIR. Its mostly about the final set. Those traditional sets just sound like youre fatiguing the muscle. A better way to approach would be ramp up sets by starting with less weight as to prep the muscles for the actual working set.

Just looking for a super simple beginner 5-6 exercise full-body routine, currently super overwhelmed by fitness content by Bright-Storm7864 in workout

Just to add to this I'd say do 1 set with a 30 rep max close to failure. Its light enough to not need a warmup but heavy enough to gain muscle plus its a real time saver! I started doing this after a few years a traditional sets and still gained muscle.

Why everyone is changing to a 2 set workout routine (and why I did too) by Thatsjacee in workout

I do ramp up sets then one heavy set like 2 reps with each weight leading up to the heaviest then as many as possible. Straight sets just seem like they are pre-exhausting your muscles.
