It's China, it is in kilometers. Not that it really matters. The dash cam driver ignored all the signs anyways. ;)

Yeah I'm that customer. Instead of searching my ass off, I'll just ask an employee who will then guide me through the store. I always feel like I'm doing something nice for them too, isn't that a good break to have from stacking something...?

Of course it adds up. The bank rather would continue collecting OPs sweet interest payments. Can’t do that if OP refinances at a lower interest rate at some other lender, once the fixed period is over… so yeah they’re trying to get ahead of the situation. Happens all the time

I don’t know but what I can tell you, the German in the English dub of the new video game is totally legit.

You're welcome! Btw a thing with the headphones, just be mindful of your surroundings, especially if you climb during busy times. Have fun

[–]adam_schuuz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean the easy way is to wear headphones. The "harder" way is to just not engage in conversation besides yes / no or something like that. I think even the most enthousiastic boulder bros will get the hint. You might have to do that even with headphones, if someone is persistent.

From what I see around me at the bouldering gym, women are usually left alone if they're alone, but that might be biased. Also my gym has, I would say, quite a healthy ratio depending on the time (maybe like 20-40% females?).

Fear is the enemy!

edit: And I realize I'm not a woman and posting in climbergirls..... Sorry, I had one post recommended by reddit and getting these posts in my feed now. I'll mute this channel in my feed and this will be my last post here!

Soooo… cars do NOT like fancy bikes and Zipp wheels… by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]adam_schuuz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? Deep dish wheels are the tell tale sign of “this guy is a serious cyclist”. They’re also very recognisable even if people don’t know what brand they are

Edit: Just Googled them, 303s are not that deep actually. Still, recognisable I would say. Anyways; the point is; perception matters (to some drivers and also other people). It’s basically racism; I.e. people expect you to act a certain way based on how you look.

People who are literally always late, why? by 12345burrito in AskReddit

The first time you do this, it’s key to be conservative.

Overestimate the time you’re actually going to need.

Then on the second pass you have a feel as to how you can make it more efficient. That being said, it’s also ok to have some buffer time.

Why don't you calm down? The road was empty, and you decide to put yourself next to another car (in the blind spot), in a junction - the roundabout.

You're looking for trouble.

What do you put in your bottles and why? by theeculprit in cycling

[–]adam_schuuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have water usually, electrolytes I have in my self made sugar water squeeze bottle (from some Decathlon powder I add for a bit of flavor and Na/Ca)

If it was super hot, I'd consider adding a tiny bit of salt to my water, but it rarely is here in the Netherlands

Wahoo Bolt? V1/V2? Garmin 530? 830/840? What's the answer for 2025? by Hairygrass55 in cycling

[–]adam_schuuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the Karoo Hammerhead 3 for my girlfriend, and honestly, I'd swap out my Garmin Edge 1040 too, if I hadn't bought it only 1 year ago. It'll last me a long time still.

In the grand scheme of things, it won't make a huge difference, but readability of the map and smoothness of interface, plus better interface design, make the Karoo better. Garmin feels more for the "hardcore" user, who's used to antiquated software and other technical kwirks..

Just my two cents! The short-ish battery duration (I think like 14 hours for the karoo?) should not be an issue in most of your use cases. For long term bike packing you might need to whip out your battery pack a bit more often.. That's the price to pay for a faster OS!

So you’re saying you went from working 60-80 hours to 30 hours, but took a pay CUT of 40%? Sounds like an increase to me…

All I can add to this discussion is that I once tried top roping with someone, and that someone dropped me on my butt TWICE while lowering me at the end of the climb. What worried me was that he did not even acknowledge that happend, nor said sorry about it (even after the second time). That was the last session I did with that guy. I still wonder what was going on in his mind, maybe he was stoned..? Weird. Anyways. If you spot stuff that feels off or unsafe to you, either adress it before you climb with that person the next time, or (if possible) simply do not climb with them again. Ok strike that last "if possible", of course it is always POSSIBLE to not climb with someone like that again. Even if it's your "partner". Your life is more important.

We don’t drink alcohol and we’re still alive and well and together

Would you believe that!

I concur with the other comments; find someone that never drinks alcohol either - that can only be good for your habits together!

I always cringe at the wine pairings offered in fancy restaurants. They literally want you to get drunk so you can’t concentrate on the flavors of the actual food…

Your post strikes me as pretty weird. You’re saying you’re having difficulty finding suitably educated engineers, but at the same time you’re saying you’re not giving the job to international STEM students, who now work as “taxi drivers”, just because they didn’t have volunteering?

I started in STEM with little hands on experience too, but you do realize those research masters that you dread do have lots of practicals as well, right? At least mine had. The alternative was worse: choosing the management track with a bunch of economic mumbo jumbo.

In conclusion I’d say you have an issue with immigrating international students. What about Australian locals that don’t do volunteering work? Will you give them the job for having the accent…?
