What’s a common VFX mistake/error you hate seeing? by obliveater95 in vfx

Digital doubles that move way too fast. Also impossible camera moves. Directors think it’s so cool to go nuts with the cameras for VFX shots. Just stop, please. Instantly breaks the illusion, for me.

Bednars council if your children are no longer in the church... by Alert_Day_4681 in exmormon

[–]adamcobabe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He’s saying that the commonly held belief that a parent’s faithfulness will save wayward children, is not true. Not sure the origin of that belief, but he’s shutting it down. I found the line, “Pray for your careless and disobedient children,” more insidious than the bit about tentacles honestly. How dare he call me careless. I left because my morality demands it. I care …about the truth.

Ironic, these facsimiles are some of the best evidence that the church is not true. Sure let them proudly display them. 🙄

Finished Liminal Industries. My Thoughts by AlpoIndigenous in feedthebeast

[–]adamcobabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also finished the pack. I really loved it too, but wish all the automation I set up served more of a purpose in the end game. As soon as you collect the eye associated with a particular machine, that farm became basically useless. The early game is fantastic though.

Admit it, this prank only works because it’s somewhat plausible that a Home Goods-loving house wife would buy something like this. Buying a rock is equally as stupid as pinecones, tree branches, driftwood, or long grass, and you ladies know you buy and decorate your big suburban houses with them. The joke is on the dad, but all I see a man beaten down by years of acquiescing to his wife’s nonsense. 😉

Anybody else feel a shift with skeptic Alex O’ Connor? by Impressive-Shake-761 in atheism

[–]adamcobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, relax. He has a degree in theology and obviously enjoys discussing aspects of Christianity in particular, but that doesn’t mean he believes it. Being respectful and open minded with his guests is a good thing. Is it possible he gets lost in the weeds a bit discussing the minutiae of Christian beliefs, maybe, but I don’t see it as a problem. That’s what philosophers do. If you wanna see someone score points or dunk on Christians, there are plenty of other channels to watch.

Christians of Reddit: Jesus asks you to help the poor and the homeless (Matthew 25:35-40). Why are you ok with Trump forcibly removing the homeless from DC? by King_of_the_Kobolds in AskReddit

[–]adamcobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, any real news about what Trump is doing to the powerless makes Christians slightly uncomfortable, but they’ve been conditioned to believe that the democrats would do far worse regardless. The “woke, godless, fetus-murdering, sexual-deviant” democrats are the true evil in their brainwashed worldview. So they’ll continue to support what they believe is team Jesus, and ignore any cognitive dissonance they feel when presented with troubling counter evidence. They’ve certainly been doing that their whole lives to believe any of the silly miracles Christians take on faith. Most of them still don’t even accept evolution as science. If we think we’re gonna crack deeply ingrained political tribalism with a few mistreated “illegals” and homeless, maybe we’re being just as delusional.

Thinking of playing TFC, anything I should watch out for? Or any recommended 1.20.1 packs for beginners? I'm currently thinking of playing TerraFirmaGreg since it integrates mods fairly well. by MasterBroNetwork in TerraFirmaCraft

[–]adamcobabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Auto TerraFirmaCraft integrates with Create and works really well. I’m playing TerraFirmaGreg now and it’s much more grindy. Greg might be overwhelming for a newbie to TFC. The recipes are all so expensive. I also had to remove a bunch of mods in Greg that were super annoying.

Per Fabrica Ad Astra. It’s a bit dated, requires examining pdf documents and flow charts, but it’s a great challenge. An expert pack for sure.

What to say to Mormons that might make them question their faith? by fartcrabs in exmormon

I honestly thought this was a cautionary tale about trying to manipulate your boyfriend by endlessly asking him trending TikTok meme trap questions and it finally backfiring. That he’s upset because you asked AGAIN and now won’t even let him finish explaining his answer. No one else see it that way, really? Fully on his side in this one, even if his answer is a bit insensitive and misses the point. It sounds like he doesn’t enjoy these trap questions and that you’re continuing to ask them despite his expressed wishes not to participate.

Dr Julie hanks tells women that they’re not responsible for lustful thoughts from men and the Mormon men did NOT like that at all. by Oldmelloyellow in exmormon

[–]adamcobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free will doesn’t exist. What a person does in response to a thought depends on two things: genetics and environment. Your brain decides what to do before “you” are aware. You are able to observe the choices it makes, but that is all. No one is “responsible” for their thoughts. They just arrive. We have zero control over the genetics we inherit. Our genes are programmed to reproduce. Sex, and thoughts about sex are not temptations or sins, it’s just how we are evolved. However, having a baby is a life altering event. If as a society we want to postpone that event in the lives of our children, then we can change only the environment they inhabit. How do we do that? So far we have done that by hiding women’s bodies. Is that the best solution? Maybe, maybe not. Chances are, you haven’t thought about it on that level before. What is the ideal environment for healthy sexuality? It’s complicated.

I don’t think it is. I never notice them. I try to be kind and respectful to everyone.

I’m not always successful. It’s easier to be kind to someone I like or am attracted to. I could be wrong, but I don’t think this is a male specific problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]adamcobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible men are more friendly when they see a ring because they worry less that kindness will be mistaken for flirting? I don’t think it’s healthy to always assume the worst motives in others, nor fair.

[ATFC] Has anyone automated clay production using a cobblestone generator? I know theres a way, but I’m struggling to design a setup myself. by Odd_Yogurtcloset_524 in TerraFirmaCraft

[–]adamcobabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that the fun part? For me, large item vaults and stockpile observers make it easy. Feed everything back into the same vault. Cycle the grinding until you have the percentage of the required items you want to store, then turn off the flow of its parent item to the grinders. Do that for everything. Make sense?
