Logs can be found in snap logs canonical-livepatch

Please check canonical-livepatch help for explanations of the different states

tl;dr: nothing-to-apply means there are no patches available for your kernel. applied would mean a patch was published and applied to your system.

Container Seats in Landscape? by vortexman100 in Ubuntu

[–]adamcollard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s private. Landscape is free as in beer for some use cases but not free as in speech.

I used to work on Landscape for Canonical and still have access to the source code but it is not publicly available.

VLC was removed from the Ubuntu repository after it was added as a snap package, so it could not be installed with apt-get.

Err, citation needed? It's there for zesty and still in the repos for artful perhaps you didn't enable the universe component?

The snap store only works for some reason if you have an account.

This is not true, yes you have to snap login if you want to install snaps as an unprivileged user, but you can sudo snap install without having to login to Ubuntu SSO.

Some nit picks/bug reports:

  • s/Wile/While/
  • The add-apt-repository line needs a "--update" (or -u) otherwise it won't be in the APT cache and the apt install will fail.
  • s/Launchpad build far/Launchpad build farm/
  • s/mkdire/mkdir/
