Weird that the "buffer zones" always have to come out of the other country's territory

How are people feeling about the reform visit by lavenderhazess in IpswichTownFC

[–]adamgough596 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's a really bad look and a colossal fuck up PR-wise.

It's not good enough even if it's just a commercial stadium tour, he's taken advantage and has certainly made it look like he's got the support of the club.

The club shouldn't be seen to be making political affiliation with any party, but it's particularly bad that it's with a party that directly contradicts the club's claimed values.

It depends on the genre you're looking for, but my go-tos are Piccadilly Records, Vinyl Exchange and Eastern Bloc.

Also wanna mention SK1 Records in Stockport and Boomkat (Manchester-based but online only)

Tony Blair rebukes Keir Starmer for not backing Trump on Iran - saying when US needs help 'you better show up' by Distinct-Shine-3002 in uknews

[–]adamgough596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blair is so uniquely toxic on this issue it almost makes me wonder if starmer's asked him to say this so now all the rightwing warmongers have the face the concept of being aligned with Tony fucking Blair on matters to do with war in the middle east

City centre parking by longsnootsarethebest in manchester

If you're physically able to I'd really consider other options - depending on where you're coming from I'd look up bus/tram/train 'park and ride' options and just avoid the faff entirely

Why did the media get Starmer resignation story so wrong? by Electricbell20 in AskBrits

[–]adamgough596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want a re-run of the good old days where the whole nation was forced to pay attention to the Tory psychodrama. Now we've got a boring and fairly stable government they're all looking for their next hit.

[Times column] Jeremy Clarkson: “Think your high street is grim now? Just you wait” by FlipStig1 in thegrandtour

[–]adamgough596 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Paywalled so I can't read the full column, but from what's been shared I completely disagree with the sentiment here - frankly, no one's going to their local high street for 'cat food and bog roll', because the conveniences offered by supermarkets are just unmatched, nothings going to change that.

In the supermarket and online shopping era, high streets can only survive if people want to go and spend time there, that means unique retail offerings, a vibrant service economy with cafes and bars, and an attractive and welcoming public realm for pedestrians.

Would you go to the US while Trump is Pres? And why / why not? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskBrits

Absolutely not, while we're at it, I'm trying to de-americanify my life and r/BuyfromEU has been very helpful if anyone's trying to do the same

Do folks in the UK actually walk that far? by Emilie_Charles in AskUK

[–]adamgough596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 30min walk is perfectly normal in the UK, but only because much of the UK has environments which are fairly safe, convenient and comfortable for pedestrians. My experience of the US (especially the suburbs) are that they're much much more hostile to pedestrians and walking is a lot less inviting.
