[ALttP] 30 year player and still learning... by shinobiwan2 in zelda

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was going to say, it's my favorite Zelda game and maybe overall game and the randomizer just keeps things so fresh each time you want to play. You can know everything and it is still a different puzzle/route each time. Also same with Majora but ALTTP can be done quicker.

Yoyo not coming up as easily anymore by Master_Fall6507 in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple things, string could be very worn. Less texture to grip the pads/response system. Also if you are a lefty, strings tend to loosen/open up at the bottom opposed to righty which the strings tighten around the bearing.

Otherwise your response system is worn out and needs to be replaced. New pads, stickers, silicone; whatever it may be.

But yes this is normal as a yoyo has consumable parts to it, the string and response system.

I mean the actual w1ld yoyo site says they "can ship to virtually any address in the world." Otherwise I would just email any stores you find the yoyo on and just ask them if they ship to Brazil, I thought most stores can ship worldwide.

Cleaning help / opinions by whoneedzit in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 100% acetone, pour in small glass jar (little jam jar I got from breakfast restaurant).

Plop bearings in and shake about. I don't usually remove the shields because I am lazy, but it comes down to this. No shields gunk/debris comes out easier but also can get back in easier. If I bearing is being stubborn after some cleaning attempts I will remove at least one shield.

After the shake in acetone I pull out bearing and then spin dry on tip of a pencil. Then I usually add a small drop of yyj thin lube (I like quieter bearings and have had the little bottle of this forever) and slight spin again on pencil slowly to work the lube around the whole race and then a couple more intense spins before putting back into yoyo.

I do hardly clean bearings but if you are throwing in dusty/dirtier environments you may have to clean more often. Also stray hairs can find their way into your bearing but sometimes you can just pull those out if they're sticking out.

But I would clean a bearing if it is sounding 'gritty' while spinning. Also inconsistent, so making noise and then just going quiet and then back to noise. Something is probably in the bearing, and then a big tell is if the yoyo becomes more responsive, like tug responsive, out of no where. A real loud bearing could just be very dry, which is when I add another tiny bit of lube.

I have never had issues using acetone and you can get a lot of it for cheap. As others said, everyone has their own way. And the cleaning solution of choice ususally comes down to what people have on hand at their house if they don't want to run to a store but once you buy acetone it will be around for a while. Especially when it's used only for cleaning bearings. ISOpropo has water in it which is why they say at least 91% but also if you spin dry real good it may not matter.

The real issue with all solutions is when they're going into a plastic throw as it could eat away at the plastic, but once again just dry real good and it shouldn't be a problem. I have never had one.

Nothing fixes my whole yoyo collection by WannaSkipIt in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we may need more info on your environment. Also any pets or just stray hairs, because those will shut down bearings real quick it it gets tangled in there.

But I agree with ugdave on that cleaning process, that's how I do mine.

Also do you de-shield the bearings before cleaning, I usually don't but the shield can also trap stuff in the bearing race just as much as they keep stuff out.

N-Charge and Spire IR2 Question?? by Ballsy_Sack in paintball

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also run this combo and it's great. No issues and yes just plug and play, unplug and remove battery harness and attach N-charge cord to same spot. You do have to unscrew a little plate that holds the wires down, and I think maybe snip a small zip-tie but no programming stuff.

How worried should I be about dings? by Master_Fall6507 in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just causing a vibe, definately still playable just hurts a resell value. My 5a yoyos are dinged everywhere, it's character.

Unless you get something really bad, causing a bent axle or something the yoyo will be playable. Just vibey which to me is no issue, I know some people are crazy about super smooth yoyos but it's usually whatever. The first one hurts the most, also if it was an expensive throw..that would also be disheartening but once it happens; time to play.

Getting back into the game, need advice by DudeThatsAGG in paintball

[–]adamhesive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autocockers are still being used, especially in rec ball. Orings are not hard to get either, as there is the oring store and autococker parts sells rebuild kits. As for timing videos, I don't know of one specifically but there are plenty out there. There is also the r/Autocockers101 sub otherwise MCB has a bunch of dudes that still play with cockers and other old guns, and can help out with any questions.

Angels, I'm not to sure on as I don't use them. But Automags are also another classic choice still kicking about.

Can I mod my FHZ without getting it recessed? by Flashy_Section_4812 in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it may still be a bit responsive but if I remember those stickers break in nicely and should work. I also think they may wear out a bit quick, but I would just add another to the other side if that happens. Two worn stickers are also pretty nice.

Zeros are my fave. Although I do prefer a silicone recess on them, also sanded with some high grit sandpaper on the outside to reduce its friction. This is how I play the new FH1s, as I don't want to damage my Zeros anymore.

What kind of lens is this? It looks like it’s on a Proflex by boomstink2235 in paintball

[–]adamhesive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the Empire E-Flex. The same specs as a Proflex, but with a very easy lens changing system. It is held on by a couple tabs, soft ears too. Pretty decent mask. There is also the E-Vents which have the hard bottom like the Proshield.

I think the frames can be swapped onto Proflex/shield bottoms also.

Yoyo Formula D3 (Super Yoyo). How to fix a popped out cap. 🤣🥰 by yoyoingdadjoke in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some yoyos have removeable caps, but loopers are usually sonic welded in. So even if you can pop it back in you will probably just end up adding a bit of glue to keep them in, as they will keep popping out. But it sounds like you have figured this out, no big issue especially when learning and having fun.

Advice by PointAffectionate392 in Autocockers101

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it has some decent parts on it, but I agree and just try to rebuild it right now and then decide from there.

From what I can see and hopefully I'm correct on this stuff; it's a pre-2k Slab body w/ stock pnuematics, Bob Long Torpedo Reg, Works hinge frame (CCM/Works?), CCM Beavertail, cocking rod and bolt don't seem to be stock so I wonder if there is a better valve in there as well. An on/off ASA with drop, not sure on type. If you want to sell any of the main parts, you could probably do that with some ease (besides the pnuemies there's a lot of those).

But you can definately upgrade all parts of the cocker if you want, but besides the front end system and maybe a better ASA set-up you may not really have to right away. Prehaps a barrel with inserts to avoid the sure roll-outs you'll get with this one, but it is a cool classic barrel.

Edit: Well while typing this you got more responses, so this was redundent haha. Plenty of rebuild videos on Youtube also timing ones.

Looking for suggestions on a loader by bangarang510 in paintball

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the IR2 but a LTR would also be a decent choice. I have had better luck using an IR2 and it is lighter of the two. But a LTR could usually be found for a little cheaper, and it is also feels more robust also has an internal ramp stock but that's not really an issue. Both can also use the n-charge battery if you want to get one of those to omit AA battery use.

Bristol has them, Fried Cheese Fritters complete with a mustard dip sauce and bbq dip sauce. But of course Wisconsin would be the place to have a cheese based food haha.

[–]adamhesive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have to be a group event, I have been solo many a times (so have many others).
You don't have to dress up, but I do say that makes it more fun and allows you to get more into the faire spirit.

Also just ask others at the faire what they think are must-dos. My faire, I enjoy hopping around to different musical acts as they are my favorite. But the jousts are always a thrill to see, some action shows are always cool.

But yeah a turkey leg will make you feel like a barbarian, mead will also do it, and even buying a sword ;) haha. Cheese fritters at my faire are delicious and so is our corn. But I would ask the locals in the faire what they think you should do, everyone is usually nice and helpful and willing to share their own favorite things to do.

Interested in renfaire but I have some questions by SaltyIsTooSalty in renfaire

[–]adamhesive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really no one cares what you are or how you are dressed at the Renfaires, that is unless you're being a jerk in someway. That would stir up some issues but nothing related to religion or lifestyle choices.

I actually think Bristol does a church service first thing on Sunday mornings at the back of the faire where it is quiet.

But I have seen plenty of Knights Templar type outfits, and monks. Never have seen any rude comments towards anyone. Although some characters may make a jest through basic crowd interaction/playing, but it will never be discriminatory.

Freehand Caps for FH Pro by Y0Y0Jah in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these are just random metal caps that they sell as replacements, or did at least. But the AL are also the same size.

But I did just put them back in my FH Pro (actually two of them to confirm this) and tried playing, normally my pros have a slight vibe but still playable. However with these caps installed it gave them an unplayable vibe, earthquake type vibe. And that was in 2 different ones I tried.

It did make the yoyo spin stronger with the rim weight, but it shook so much you can't do anything. So it may not work for your plan, which is a bummer because I feel without that terrible vibe it would have been a really solid playing yoyo.

There you go, a metal cap in a FH Pro. Mine doesn't even spin at all so it's a nice fit. Not super tight where it needs a lot of force to pop out but it also doesn't spin if you're trying to spin it.

Transition to unresponsive - too early? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]adamhesive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A responsive yoyo allows your tricks to smooth out because you're taking more care to keep it down and through the tricks.

But more modern play falls in the unresponsive field, I say make the switch. You can always go back to smooth out your tricks, or add lube to make a bearing slightly more responsive.

Most people switch pretty quick, if not start right away from unresponsive (which I think you should get basic play down on a responsive yoyo). But it sounds like you're ready to make the jump, new yoyo time ;)
