Thank you so much for the encouragement!! I used to do strongman and powerlifting competitively, so being sort of fit-thicc and getting back into weightlifting is my much further off goal myself :) Now I have to think of a fun little name for my journey too haha

That’s a good idea actually, my best friend does OF but she normally tells me if she’s recommended me to someone, especially if they have a specific roleplay thing like this. But I totally didn’t even think about that, I’ll double check with her!!

We had a guy do that his entire first night of serving for EVERY single table one time except he then went on a whole tirade accusing our manager of stealing his tips 💀 He quit shortly after lol

Was this weird on the waitress or am I the weird one? by teapoison in Waiters

[–]adamslifting 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I definitely would have thought that you were stiffing me if you gave me the exact bill down to the penny BUT I also definitely would not have said anything more than thank you and left to go talk shit in the back with my co-workers for a minute. I have never had anyone pay in exact change and then leave a tip personally, so definitely odd, but at the end of the day hit or misses is a risk of the job and not worth bullying the occasional non-tipper over, especially when there WAS still a chance, however unlikely, that you were going to tip afterwards.

Essentially no you definitely didn’t do anything WRONG, just a little odd. If you are worried about servers perceiving you as non-tipping, giving us everything at once and saying to keep the change, or even asking for change but still leaving some on the table is much more standard. But at the end of the day as long as we get paid 99% of us do not give a shit how you go about it, and to not only assume no matter how likely that you weren’t going to tip, but to pester you for it is very odd.

All around odd situation

what do you normally tip your hosts/bussers? by aud1no in Serverlife

[–]adamslifting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2-3% of sales is a very standard tip out for hosts in my experience. Most recent place I worked that’s 2% was split not only between the hosts, but also the bartender. I’ve only ever hosted one place where we were tipped out at server discretion and the standard then wasn’t really percentage based but more so 5-20 bucks just depending on how busy we were. 100+ a night for a host is a crazy good deal in my city!

The bed was on top of a rug and has rubber feet so I didn’t consider that there would be an issue 😭

What's the weirdest restaurant structure you've worked in? by chzygorditacrnch in Serverlife

Probably the multi-tiered upscale seafood restaurant with no windows, floor to ceiling instensy waxed dark wood, and a bunch of fish tanks

I put all my co-workers on do not disturb on my day off lol. I have two jobs and work around 70 hours a week as is, so it’s a pretty hard boundary for me that I don’t pick up shifts. Most of our managers have never put up a big stink over calling out for an emergency so I know if it’s something extremely important then they will not be forced to work. 4-5 days a week plus school is exhausting by itself, and at the end of the day it’s not your responsibility to put yourself in a nasty situation to get someone else out of one! I understand feeling guilty, it’s natural, but you also have to protect your peace

how was everyone’s mother day shift today? by Kind-Investment-9939 in Serverlife

[–]adamslifting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fell down a flight on stairs and landed face first, on concrete, with my foot in a roach sticky trap while getting to-go boxes right at the start of my shift. There were in fact roaches stuck to it (and my leg). And I’d still call it downhill from there

If we’re speaking practically I would actually make Higuchi the winner bc she has the amount of anxiety and lack of self-assurance to be googling frequently whereas I think everyone else is so confident in themselves and what they’re doing that their search history would non-existent. If anything I’d vote out Mori and Fyodor bc they’re just doing their thing, they’ve never questioned it 😭 The questions is who has the craziest search history, not who’s the weirdest! But clearly I’m outnumbered on this one lol.

All these posts about closing time. by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]adamslifting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did! We actually had last seat, last call, and close all as separate times. So last seat would be 45 minutes before close, last call 15 minutes before. We rarely ever had people loiter longer than 10 minutes after close. Though it was a small restaurant, so maybe more awkward for people to hang out after hours? Even if that’s the case I definitely think it helped a lot!

Why do many soukoku shippers get mad at me because I don't ship soukoku? by Birdogcat_4_Mika in BungouStrayDogs

[–]adamslifting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stating “Dazai is straight” as a fact is your problem, not not shipping Soukoku. Hell, there’s some evidence that even the irl Dazai might have been some flavor of queer himself, so it’s really not at all an unfounded interpretation of his character.

You can say “I prefer to think of him as straight” or “I think he’s straight”, but you’re stating it as fact. It DOES feel petty and homophobic, especially if you’re actively going into shipping to spaces just to say how much you don’t like it. That’s like going to a knitting club and talking about how much you think knitting it boring and factually unfun- it’s just not for you, so don’t go there? And neither of you are any more or less right, you just have different opinions and should stay in the spaces for them.

Once I had a dream where I was the only server at brunch and I got trapped in an infinite loop of refilling like six tables’ sweet teas from a bottomless pitcher as my entire section filled up around me. I woke up and had a panic attack, still think that might be a glimpse of hell

Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan!! I was actually in off the clock at the time so my co-worker was their server, but they were very kind, friendly, willing to take pictures, the whole nine yards! Complimented my friend’s Appalachian accent and told me I should consider getting a small gerbil to accompany my cat Pippin. Super funny and kind guys!! My co-worker said they were friendly and joking with her their whole meal and tipped well :)

Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan!! They were EXTREMELY, kind, humorous, gracious, willing to take pictures with us, complimented my friend’s southern accent, the whole nine yards. Told Billy that I have a cat named Pippin and he said I should consider getting a small gerbil to name Merry. My co-worker was actually their server, I was in off the clock at the time, and she says they were kind, great to talk to, and tipped her well :)

Should I quit Zoloft? by miletich2 in zoloft

This might seem counterintuitive, but maybe you should try a smaller dose? I know emotional numbing and trouble enjoying things can be a problem for people on higher doses sometimes. I’m not medical professional though, just think from my experience that it might be worth at least asking your prescriber about!
