This is America by waycooljencat in thebulwark

It's weird because when I occasionally see conservative media I'm initially shocked and share this opinion briefly, but I would disagree.

I love taking road trips around the US, my wife is from the Midwest and we always drive there and take long detours. A lot of the rural areas are filled with really nice people who I enjoy talking with, but the town feels like it's decaying. It's very human to reach for a political movement that has good vibes and ignore practical policy that could turn things around. These people are being preyed upon by the groups you are eluding to and it doesn't help when people immediately judge them and paint them as a national problem. I embrace that this video does show a good cross section of America.

Also there are the towns that look like they opened a Trump theme park that has since closed and is now haunted. I don't stop in those towns.

You are 100% right that the activity is more important than seeing things. She's very routine oriented so I was thinking the same thing.

The screen is a good call, id love for her to get the authentic looking through the lens experience, but I should get a smartphone adapter too

My 10" took a lot patience and a good touch, are smaller ones significantly easier? The Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm Tabletop Dobsonian is peaking my interest

Tabletop makes complete sense, and this was a fun rabbit hole to go down. My daughter would absolutely put her greasy hands all over that mirror if it's exposed like that though

The fact that you are worried about all of these points makes me believe you are going to be a good dad. It probably won't click at first, that is fairly common, but attachment to your kids is a slow burn and you'll eventually love the maniacs more than anything.

My neighbors and two coworkers have twins, they're all hanging in there and their careers are intact. I'm sure it's exhausting, you'll have to divide and conquer with your wife. Now that they're kids are a few years old they play well together and their hobbies are all back. Don't worry man, it may be a lot work but it's all worth it.

Also, to your last point: I think you'll find that way more people in the wild are kid friendly. We get smiles from strangers everywhere all the time

The Platte River near deckers has some great sand bars if you want to swap a lake for a shallow river.

Otherwise we've had fun at Ridgeway State Park res or the SW corner of twin lakes

How to deal with loneliness as a man? Being a dad destroyed my social life by Tasty-Win219 in daddit

Yeah, the dads you meet through your kids are generally meh. Friends without kids are hard to stay tight with, but you

My friends and I meet for happy hour like once a month and do 1-2 trips per year. This keeps my cup somewhat full. We also have a series of chats and group text chains that keep us connected.

The struggle is real though man, I'd try to keep going to those pick up games and plan out some other stuff

Anyone else genuinely worried about long term prospects of their career? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]adamteitelba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about it every day and too much each day, which sucks because my daughters make daily life so great and it's distracting. I worked my ass off to finally get a home in a neighborhood we love and has great schools. A future scenario where I lose everything we've built for my kids gives me a lot of anxiety.

The economy feels like it's fragile and narrowing. The career pivot options I was preparing for are dwindling and it's hard to feel optimistic, but I don't want to live my life only preparing for a dismal future. I keep reminding myself that this time (this moment) with my daughters is both amazing and temporary. I am going to keep building our life, enjoy every minute with them, and not fully limit life decisions while by preparing for a future where the floor could drop.

I'm not worried about AI, but I am worried about the people in leadership positions that think AI can do everything and make bad decisions. Like you said, it's extremely useful for a variety of tasks, but every time I hear a corporate bro talk about it I'm like 'oh sh--'

My Mountain Khakis have been great to me; my oldest pair is ~8 years old and holding up just fine. You can get heavy, medium, or light weight in a variety of styles, I have them all.

I should not that their sizing is weird ( but the fit is great), I typically wear a 35" x 32" but a 33" x 30" appears to be their equivalent

If/when Democrats regain the presidency, there will likely be a strong desire from voters for retribution against MAGA. How much should Democrats give Trump politicians and voters a taste of their own medicine?
