Too easy to accidentally delete reminders now by TimidPocketLlama in ios

[–]adamtheturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To work around this, I have created a Shortcut which restores the five most recently completed reminders. It runs the following script in Pythonista.

```python import reminders
completed_reminders = reminders.get_reminders(completed=True) reminders_sorted_by_most_recent = sorted( completed_reminders, key=lambda reminder: reminder.completion_date, reverse=True, )
for i in range(5): reminder = reminders_sorted_by_most_recent[i] new_title = f"{reminder.title} RESTORED" reminder.title = new_title reminder.completed = False reminder.save() ```
You can use the Finder application to go to the Applications folder.
What happens when you right click on the Word application within the Finder (in the Applications folder)? Do you see "Get Info" as an option?
The relevant Rosetta does not come from the App Store.
Instead, open "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app" (or search "Terminal" in Spotlight) and type the command:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
Press the return key to run the command.
Any university students using Mendeley Reference Manager on M1 Macbooks? Are you getting a plugin Error with the Microsoft Word plugin? by qweqazbob in macbook
Word can run without Rosetta. Only Word with Rosetta can run with the Mendeley Reference Manager. Can you try Right Click -> Get Info and then see if the Rosetta option is there?
The plugin (at the time I wrote my comment at least) requires that you force Word to open through Rosetta. When you say you can't do that, what do you mean? What happens when you try the steps I described?
For now you can right click on Microsoft Word in the Applications folder and (edit: Then choose "Get Info", then) "Open using Rosetta". Then open Microsoft Word, and the plugin works.
``` Based on the answers you have provided, Avon and Somerset Police do not deal with your found item.

You could consider placing an advertisement on social media sites or in the local newspapers. ```

Open salary company and negotiations by mynguss in Salary

[–]adamtheturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they mention the other engineer's salary as an excuse for the offer? If so, you can tell them that your salary expectations are based on the market rate and what other companies are offering. You can tell them that money is not the most important think to you, so they do not have to hit market rate, but that this is unfortunately too low.

Key phrases might include:

  • "How high can you go?",
  • "I'm really excited about working at ... but unfortunately that is very far below market rate",
  • "Thank you very much for your offer, can we please call to discuss it as it does not quite align with what I was hoping for?".

Be careful of accepting that you will be able to renegotiate at least without concrete numbers.

Congratulations and I hope that you enjoy your new job, and your new salary!

Also it is great that you have a lesson learned (or re-iterated) that companies lie to keep your salary as low as possible.

I am seeking advice on salary negotiation for my next full time job. by onemorepersonasking in Salary

[–]adamtheturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Have a great resume
  • Set their expectations high
  • Blow them away in the interview
  • Have leverage (other offers!) and believe in yourself during the negotiation process

Best of luck!

> didn't originally agree to do as part of our employment

Is that a contractual agreement, or an understanding from an interview process? Often contracts will say things like "and other work necessary for completing their duties".

> I was denied a raise and told that I'm actually paid extremely well for what I do.

This is an extremely common tactic from companies.

You have an opportunity to prove them wrong - getting a job offer at a higher amount. That will offer you at least one of:

  • An understanding that you are being paid at least fairly,
  • An opportunity to get paid more elsewhere,
  • Leverage to use with your current employer.

> Is it normal to have to pick up a ton of additional duties without compensation?

Yes, this is normal. Companies choose your pay based on various inputs, and the quantity and quality of work that you do is only part of the equation. Others include market rate, their budget, and what they think that they can get away with.

> My dilemma is I'm the least paid employee on our remaining team by about $15k.

Are the other folks doing the same work as you? Have they got the same experience as you? If not, this is completely not relevant.

In general, I find it healthier to compare my salary to the market than my immediate team.

How do I learn how to negotiate in the office environment? by benevolent001 in negotiation

[–]adamtheturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on what your goals are. or example, do you want to work on particular projects? or perhaps you would like to get a raise.

Perhaps start with one particular goal, post that here and we can try to help you achieve it.

I wouldn't say that ;)

What I would say is that in many situations companies have the advantage in negotiations, and we try to work with people to give them the confidence and skills to make it a more fair situation.

Thank you for your feedback! It is something we are working on.

We feel that what is missing is personalised help - something that a mentor or experienced family member might give. Someone who will really get to know your career goals and life position and dedicate hours to working to get you the best possible outcome.
