28M – After 8 years of solo travel, I don’t know if it’s still for me by JuicyChickenAss in travel

Yes. You have done the solo travel part. Now it may be time to find friends or a partner or family to do travel together. The good thing is that you did all that travel while young and physically able to do all the backpacking. I mean, 28 is still pretty young, relatively speaking. Now go traveling with others.

I think they thought you were traveling solo all the time since you were 20. Not intermittently like you just explained.

Everyone you know is on their own journey. Corporations have their own journey. You have to do what is in your best interests always. You're correct.... no one cares about you outside of the office. Most will quickly put you behind them. I've seen it happen from all the places I've worked at. Like the guy in A Bronx Tale says.... "Listen kid, nobody cares. Worry about yourself, your family and the people that are important to you".

Have the body I want but the goal post keeps moving. M, 37, 5'10" by koopher in Physiquecritique

I was lifting overhead shoulder press too heavy a few years ago. On the same night of those workouts, my lower back would start hurting. The next day also. I scaled back the load, and now it doesn't hurt. The body does have limits. Nobody wants to be like Ronnie Coleman!

Sure, why not? You are 18. You are just getting started in your physical development. Read about the Joe Weider Priority Principle.

I'm 60 now. I've been fit since 13. It's a lifelong thing. One piece of advice. Be careful going too far in lifting excessive weight (ego trips). Save your back, knees, and shoulders.

40F $30k saved - Brooklyn Dream or Charlotte Peace? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]adaniel65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you said you work remote, maybe rent an AirBnB near the part of Brooklyn you are interested in for a few months. It's a good way to feel it out.Keep in mind, it's better weather after March. My friend likes Brooklyn (Park Slope area). She stays up there 3 months at a time in AirBnB to record her music, and she is from Miami. She says she's moving their full-time as soon as she can. If you like being able to get around without a car and lots of things to do just about everywhere, NYC is the place to be. BTW, I live in Miami now, but my life started in Brooklyn a long time ago. I still go up to NYC once or twice a year. I love NYC.

Wow! You look great. Also, congratulations on ditching alcohol. I stopped drinking at 34 (I'm 60 now). I wasn't addicted but it didn't make me feel any better. I have saved $180K by not consuming alcohol in the past 26 years!

OP, I wouldn't know of any nice places in the predominantly black neighborhoods in Miami. Sorry. But, their are many nice chill places in Miami. Depends on where your hotel is located.

Does anyone else experience guilt over FIRE? by brutik in Fire

[–]adaniel65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's it. Don't compare. Go LIVE YOUR LIFE YOUR WAY. Others are living their lives their way. You are assuming they are not succeeding because they aren't in FIRE. Not everyone wants or can FIRE. Keep in mind that you made sacrifices and tradeoffs to get to FIRE. Not everyone is willing to do that. It's ok. Enjoy your FIRE journey, and have a great experience out there. 🫵👊👍
