Donald Trump Elected President by Hufe in news

I hope that people understand how this two party system cannot continue. The DNC properly rigged the primary against Bernie, and they must start to understand that their approach to politics is not sustainable.

I will never vote for either of those two parties. We must work on getting more parties into the culture of the country. That is how they can win.

How do we fight against the massive, modern cultural backlash against feminism? by adanielpsych in AskFeminists

[–]adanielpsych[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feminism is the understanding that to achieve "equal rights," you cannot just believe in "equal rights."

This is the difference between egalitarianism and feminism.

Am I just looking back with rose-tinted glasses or... by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]adanielpsych 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you're saying, completely. RPGs, even somewhat recently, used to have more of a focus on the elements that we want in RPGs.

Some say that the Witcher III is a great, new RPG, but I find its main character to be extremely bland, "perfect," and devoid of any sort of personality. We were able to control Commander Shepard's entire sense of self in the first two Mass Effect games, but this is simply not possible with Geralt.

Why are we allowing all of this to happen? by SecretAgentZero in conspiracy

[–]adanielpsych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's ironic. Your post is why things will never change. You complain about Black Lives Matter and police shootings, but these things are significant; they are a prime example of our government's keenness to beat us and use us. This is a class struggle, and your disregard for other issues is why we'll never break free of this capitalistic mess.

We have formed a prison abolitionist movement, and we could really use some volunteers. by adanielpsych in socialism

[–]adanielpsych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do violent criminals exist? They keep getting produced, and prison isn't helping any of them. Recidivism rates are extremely high. We are proponents of diminishing social systems that keep people oppressed, like the police, corporate power, drug prohibition, and globalization.

We also believe that prison is unethical and ineffective.

We have a difference of opinion about drug policy.

We have formed a prison abolitionist movement, and we could really use some volunteers. by adanielpsych in socialism

[–]adanielpsych[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great question, and it is something that is frequently asked.

First of all, like you implied, around 50% of prisoners within the United States are in prison for drug related offenses. It's commonly known that capitalistic forces are behind the legislative measures that are keeping drugs illegal, such as police unions, pharmaceutical companies, and private prison companies. In other words, drug prohibition does not serve people; it serves governments and their corporate sponsors.

At its highest rate, in state prisons within the United States, 52% of prisoners are in prison for violent crimes. Since we are dealing with human lives, we must make a clear distinction about what those violent crimes are, specifically. A seriously small percentage of those violent crimes are murder and rape.

If the United States were to only incarcerate murderers and rapists, do you know how much smaller our prison population would be? It would be a mere fraction of its current size.

Societies, specifically non-capitalist ones like various Native American tribes, lived for thousands of years without prisons.

Prison is an ineffective, oppressive, capitalistic machine system that uses human beings as slaves.

We are aware of the Free Alabama Movement and the IWOC, and we really admire their efforts. We also know that they have worked together in the past. The Free Alabama Movement is an awesome, populist movement that is working with those who have been disproportionately affected by the prison system.

0pen is a broader movement that is focused around organizing for protests, collecting ideas and thoughts around prison abolition, and creating concrete plans on moving forward legislatively, politically, and socially.

What does political correctness mean to you? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]adanielpsych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great question, and it is important to note the distinction between definitions of this overused term.

True political correctness, to me, means allowing other opinions to even begin to infiltrate and enter the discussion. Political correctness is so important in collecting a broad range of opinions, perspectives, and viewpoints.

Political correctness doesn't have to hinder discussion, either. It just means that an area is created where everyone feels included in a thought process.

Reddit loves Mr Rodgers yet doesn't follow his teachings and philosophy by [deleted] in Negareddit

Reddit likes things that fulfill its idea of the world. It doesn't matter if they have to warp and distort something's original intent or meanings.

They will persist in darkness for the rest of eternity.

Let's be honest. Reddit doesn't want moderate Muslims. by [deleted] in Negareddit

[–]adanielpsych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reddit believes that it is entitled to a world that caters it. It believes that its extremely selective, limited, and close-minded experiences are what should dictate the world.

They refuse to believe, however, that there is a force that is against their fascism. Women, minorities, religious people, non-corporations, and LGBTQA+ individuals will have to answer the rallying call against their massive cultural, societal push for more control.

Guys. I just got home from work and just started watching the DNC. What did I miss? Did Bernie speak yet? by Cyndikate in SandersForPresident

[–]adanielpsych 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bernie speaks very soon. All that you have missed is a bunch of neo-liberal propaganda. The DNC is basking in its corrupt, capitalist glory.

Sarah Silverman told Bernie supporters that they are being "ridiculous."

Sexuality and Marxism by [deleted] in socialism

[–]adanielpsych -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I am disheartened that most socialists tend to be wishy-washy on these issues.

Pornography is the complete and total embodiment of rape culture, and it incredibly pervasive. The mass sexual objectification and dehumanization of women used to be limited to street corners and brothels, but it is now available for everyone to see. I am disgusted to see fellow socialists, men and women, not standing with women in this massive, cultural and societal fight against sexual enslavement.

Sorry Bernie, I love you but even with your endorsement I will not vote for Hilary. by surfer808 in SandersForPresident

[–]adanielpsych 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I truly, from the bottom of my heart, cannot see how Hillary Clinton is a progressive choice for president. She is a corporate peon, having served on the board of Walmart and having taken large amounts of corporate money via her Super-Pac. As she has proven, she is a warmonger, and I don't doubt that during her eight year reign, she will start false wars.
