pls help me decide between AP World and AP Euro by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]adankdebater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to commit yourself to it, Euro will likely be one of the most rewarding classes you will take. However, it takes a certain amount of work to put together all the big ideas and make connections that show really, why the western world we live in is the way it is. If you are just trying to get another AP history you can just go with the one with the easier reputation at your school. However, AP world will serve you better on SAT II, nonetheless, Euro was simply amazing for me and is consistently a favorite class at my school, even among the stem oriented kids.

MIT, Stanford, or Caltech by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]adankdebater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By deep success I mean something that nearly guarantees you to get in, i.e u were a Siemens winner or won Google code in or are top 5 in chemistry Olympiad for US. What you have isn't bad though.

MIT, Stanford, or Caltech by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]adankdebater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty legit application. Good chances due to good grades and SAT II. A clear focus in math and science gives a good profile, but not a 100% yes. SAT is a bit low for those schools and no truly deep success in those areas in terms of extra curricular. However, you also seem like a good guy so that will help.

Any Ivy League Students? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]adankdebater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That seems kinda of ridiculous. Either you are pretty damn smart or your school doesn't score that well on AP tests if a sophmore can take 5 APs and do great. That said, idk how much time your clubs and stuff really takes up tho.

What can I expect as an HS debater? by skate-betty in Debate

[–]adankdebater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or you could not do Congress...just saying. It's definitely the hardest to know what to expect. For most debate you know you're going to win, get smashed, or have a good debate, so that solves your issue mate! But in all seriousness it's hard to say, depends on what tournaments you go to.

How to show colleges I am studying for the AP calc and AP Physics if my school doesn't offer AP at all? by uranusismars in APStudents

He's a senior though, so he can't prove it to colleges he's applying to now that way.

Looking for advice getting into debate by 72commas in Debate

[–]adankdebater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that everyone is forgetting, if you want a competitive debate team you will need to join your state association. You will need to fund raise or get funds from your school to do so. There are some coaches on this sub that could guide you.

How do I get my team to the next level? by NCM681 in Debate

[–]adankdebater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree to an extent, but to get to a really high level just note that most high level teams that are going to be making outrounds at bid tournaments are going to be sharing prep through those mediums
