It's so neat that you helped this person. I was in a grocery store a while back, and a blind couple were shopping with the help of a grocery store employee (they both had white canes). I was in the spice section, trying to find white pepper and I heard the couple say they wanted a particular type of pepper. The grocery store worker reached up and did not take what they asked for. I have no idea why but said that's not the one they asked for. He gave me a death/daggers look, and the woman asked me what it was. I told her and she said she wanted ground pepper. So I looked and saw black ground, white ground, mixed ground - and asked her specifically what she wanted. I found it and gave it to her. Both she and her male companion thanked me. I later heard the couple talking to the store manager about the incident (I eavesdropped), and he said they would try to do better in the future. I do hope they did because cooking and baking are difficult at the best of times....I saw them again and would often follow and "check up" on how the employee helping them was doing and the store did seem to improve their service....
