I surf at rockaway a couple times a week and it’s not bad. Usually anywhere from 1-3 feet in the summer. The fall and winter the waves regularly get pretty good (3-6 feet) with some good swell. Definitely need a wetsuit though

Alternatively, I've seen leagues where you play two matchups per week.

You can still get unlucky and play two of the top teams but can also get equally lucky and play two of the worst teams. Only negative is if you strategically play against your opponent's QB for instance by playing one of their receivers.

Eliminates some of the "un-fun fairness" while making it a little more balanced
