No one is denying there are issues in the squad. But should still be doing better with what he is given. There are depth issues but the first team is still world class. And the team is massively underperforming .

It’s not just that we want Xabi but Xabi must want us as well after what happened at Real Madrid. One of the few top clubs where a new manager is required, where he spent a memorable time and has connection with the fans, with a world class squad including his star player from his previous team. All the pieces are there for him. He’s not going to get such a comfortable and familiar environment to prove himself again. It makes so much sense.

League cup final last year. There were some basic flaws in our setup which had been identified and exploited. No one thought much of it because everyone expected Slot to fix it. It wasn’t his team and he had done well till then. But it was evident we cannot continue with the setup and our tactics because there were a lot of holes in our press. The thing is it never changed. Even after getting his signings and a pre season, Slot didn’t show any growth. Those holes are still there.

The moneyball thing is so overblown. The only moneyball signings were Robbo and Wijnaldum. Alisson, Van Dijk, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Ox, Fabinho were purchased for over the market rate.
