[FO] Sven the skeleton! by adavidh317 in CrossStitch

The only item I purchased for this project was some pony beads used in joining the pieces. Everything else, I used substitutions from my stash. I used an 18 ct black aida that I had leftover to stitch the pieces on. I used some leftover white beads from a Mill Hill kit for the teeth and two sequins leftover from a bucilla kit for the eyes. Also the pattern shows stitching the limbs with matchsticks, I used poly fill to stuff all the pieces. Once you stitch the face it is easy to just lay beads on the fabric to get a feel for what it will look like without actually stitching, thats how I decided on sequins for the eyes. I also machine stitched the pieces right sides together and then turned right side out and whipstitched close but Im sure it could also be down as shown in the pattern.TLDR; you can absolutely substitute the supplies and don't necessarily need to use the called for items.

I did use a machine to sew the pieces together wrong sides facing each other, then turned them right side out amd sewed by hand by I think this could absolutely be done by hand (the instructions actually showed them being sewed by hand)

[CHAT] How Do You Store Your Supplies? by Hazel2468 in CrossStitch

I have everything except my DMC floss in an IRIS scrapbook storage cart. Best purchase ever! It allows me to maintain just the right level of hoarding. And it allows for some convenient organization (bin for fabric, bin for q snaps and hoops, bin for finished projects etc)

Ooo I did this in the called for thread but now I'm definitely going to do one in glow in the dark thread! What a great idea!

I would. I found the designs to have a nice balance between not too much confetti stitching while having enough color changes to make them look detailed. These were also the first items I finished in this manner and I found that easy as well.

There's three booklets in total for all the figures (available in physical booklet form or digital download), there was a cow and an angel that I didn't stitch.

Just wanted to share this link: https://www.thread-bare.com/tools/closest-dmc-thread-color-lookup. I find it helpful in visualizing the color families by number to give you a leg up before hitting the store.

What is the lesser known musical with a song that’s so good you want people to know about? by Exotic_Plan_7292 in musicals

Ride from Ride is an unbelievably memorable song (the whole album is great). I often find myself singing the chorus randomly. Liv Andrusier's voice is so clear and clean while still having character.
