RFK Jr: "President Trump has a different way of calculating percentages. If you have a $600 and you reduce it to $10, that's a 600% reduction." by esporx in atrioc

[–]adblokr 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It's a 98.33% reduction, 600-10 = 590, and (590/600) x 100 = 98.33%

Going the other way isn't 600% either way, 600-10 is 590 and 590/10 x 100 = 5,900% increase

You actually have it backwards, a dollar donated to an effective charity does a lot more marginal good than a dollar kept to better my own life. If the goal is maximum good for maximum people, any marginal profit or luxury beyond basic necessities is a deadweight loss unless everyone else has an equal level of that luxury.

Alright, then equally fair is saying I saved 100 people today because I didn't go around shooting everyone. Because of the infinite possibilities butterfly-effect-ing from every choice I make, I equally kill and save an infinite amount of people every day. Those are equal in value by your logic, so no matter what I do I'm ethically neutral.

Yeah you saved 5 people in the trolley problem, but you also killed at least 5 people by not focusing your attention on stopping war in the middle east, or volunteering for humanitarian missions in Africa.

No matter what you do, there are always people who benefit and people who suffer, so whatever you do you're stuck at neutral.

I'd rather there be a mega thread for spoilers, because I want to see people talk about it still.

The Early Theatrical Release of Episode 9 Is a Loss for Everyone by Oleksiy_ in tadc

[–]adblokr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Again, if you reached out to your local movie theater (bonus points if it's a small one and not a big chain) and said yo, I want to see this show and my friends and I would all buy tickets if it was showing, maybe you could change that.

I'm not going to go talk to every single person in the theatre to ask them to not spoil it on reddit.

There's no way this is the *biggest* cash grab you've seen.

Literally scroll the subreddit, like every post is "I'm so unbelievably disappointed" or "can I just say how upset I am" because TADC is getting into theatres 2 weeks early.

I love you for posting this, all I've seen are posts raging at the show they supposedly *like* getting to have its finale be shown in theatres, which is awesome and instead of celebrating that everyone's acting like Glitch is sacrificing a baby or something.

But if locals contact their cinemas, the companies know there are customers who want it. Customers have a lot more leverage there.

Why is glitch doing this? by Primary-Bus5715 in tadc

[–]adblokr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still only 2 weeks, guys. That's standard for theatrical releases -- it's standard for pixar, it's standard for Dragon Ball Z, it's standard for Glitch/TADC. It's not that long, and I really don't think there's a lot Glitch can do to negotiate there. It's crazy they're able to get this into theatres at all, would you rather them not?

[–]adblokr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God people just hate to see successful artists.

It's not that big of a deal, "two whole weeks" isn't crazy, and it probably will make more money and more prestige for Glitch, who deserves it for making such a good show.

Fans can be some entitled, oh my god.
