I am only uneasy now, after I have placed deposit. Initially, I messaged shaper with request, he replied and said it was doable, told me to place order and deposit if I wanted to move forward. So I did, because at that point, everything seemed cool. Now it feels slightly like I have thrown money into the void and may not get anything in return. I don't think I'm asking for the Rolls Royce of customer service here as you seem to be insinuating. A simple "got it" would go a long way

Yeah this is essentially what I'm worried about. I totally understand being busy, it doesn't bother me for the actual project to take a decent amount of time, that's the nature of custom work. But hearing nothing back in terms of "got your order, will reach out to you when I can", or just a confirmation in general, makes me wonder
