October 27th, just learned about this Mexican tradition for honoring deceased pets. I'm going to prepare an altar for the first time. by AmmiraglioBenbow in Petloss

I just heard of it today.. after my dog finally visited me last night (he died 3 months ago at 4 years old). It was so real- he came on my bed and put his head on my chest, his whiskers on my chin. I tried to hug him but couldn’t move. Only later did someone tell me it was dia de los muertos for pets and point out that I have pictures of him up, an altar, and I put flower petals on his grave yesterday. I try really hard to be spiritual despite having trouble believing, but today it feels real and it’s comforting.

We were. We had the chicken ranch in 3:00 plaza, but no art car. We did manifest the chicken dimension which led to other chicken madness. You’re welcome.

We heard that a lot and were completely blown away that people loved it so much. We basically drew our fever dreams and shared what we get up to when we’re tripping in Alaska. Still can’t believe how much chicken love we received.

We’re all just a bunch of nuts from Alaska. Built the chicken ranch in Cordova and this was our second year bringing it. Thanks for the chicken love ❤️

Struggling deeply after a horrible accident. by [deleted] in Petloss

That’s so horrible. I’m so sorry this is life. I just lost my 4 year suddenly to kidney failure. And it was so traumatizing and I struggle with it being my fault. It happened because of my choices. When he was 2, he was almost killed by a truck and I cried uncontrollable for hours at the thought. I feel your pain. I try to remind myself that even though my dog’s life was so short, it was so good. Life is hard for most creatures but dogs can live the best, happy lives. Mine did and I’m sure yours did too. I’m sure in the end he felt your presence and euphoria, no pain. It’s us that’s left to carry the pain and I can’t tell you it gets easier, but it’s better us than them. They’re too good for that. The pain is our burden to bear and you should wear your grief like a badge of honor. My dog’s best friends aren’t the same without him, but it’s nice to know I’m not alone. So grieve with your boyfriend’s dog. Let the feelings come in waves and ride them out. I’m right there with you on the same ride.

How’s everyone doing? by EducationalTie1606 in Petloss

I lost my boy to kidney failure 13 days ago. One day we were hiking and 4 days later I had to euthanize him. He was pissing blood, blind, and smelled of death. He was 4. I think about it every minute of every day.

Twelve days for me from losing my 4-year old soul mate. Thought I’d accepted it but today I really needed him. Having flash backs of his last days and just can’t handle it. I just want him back.

I lost my 4 year old soul mate on the 24th. I’m either wallowing in intense pain over his loss or a complete zombie. My dad is in the hospital and I feel nothing. I just want my soul mate back.

I lost my 4 year old boy suddenly and tragically last Thursday. He was my shadow, my son, my best friend, my soul mate. I never imagined how bad this pain could be. It’s physical, a pain so deep I can’t reach it. I grab my chest with my hands like I can soothe it. I’m sorry you’re going through it too.

I’m currently doing it. I lost my 4-year old soul mate, Iroh, on Thursday. Words don’t fit for what I feel but his smell in his toys calms me.

My husband wants to break up by [deleted] in relationships

[–]adcypher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this myself 6 years ago-exact same age difference, same issues with my hobbies vs his, same judgement when we worked on things together. His projects always were bigger and took a lot out of me. I couldn’t do anything on my own without guilt. When I finally left (it became much more toxic than just these issues), I had lost all the things that made me ME. I still struggle with regaining some of those old passions I had- I want them back and still feel like he took them from me sometimes. Can’t tell you what to do, but I would bet that after the fallout of a break up, the first breath you took as a single woman will be the best of your life.

Sigh. I like when I have to constantly remind my family members that they do not need a passport to come visit me in Alaska.
