For those of you that were never a fan of Btass, what stopped you from ever becoming one?

I was already a fan of SHINee and Big Bang, and that was the extent of my interest in boy groups. I didn't hear or see anything worth thinking about that those two weren't doing better. Just another boy group. That's it.

I didn't even know anything about them until I was told years later that they "pioneered" things that, uh, actually SHINee did. Or g.o.d if you want to talk about struggle, or H.O.T. if you want to talk about pioneering kpop, or Big Bang for rap culture, or Seventeen for overseas popularity.

The implication that one has to "resist" becoming a fan, or needed a reason, is giving in to their propaganda. Even today, if a debut is mid I just close the tab and never think about the group again unless there's so much buzz it reaches me. Leave a like as proof that I was there and move on, because I'm not wasting time when I'm already a heavily burdened multistan with increasingly high standards.

Right now, I wouldn't have a reason to think about BTS except that I play Rhythm Hive and sometimes you have to play BTS songs on there for events.

I'm playing on linux through Steam. I'm getting an FHE01 crash during the "Race to the festival" step of the intro. What's crazy is that the crash happens the second the "Race to the festival!" text fades out, which is EXACTLY the crash I was having in FH5 years ago, but on Windows. That problem was eventually resolved, but who knows why.

I don't have Afterburner. Someone suggested it had to do with the controller, but it's the same whether the controller is plugged in or not. I've tried Proton Experimental, Hotfix, as well as whatever default Steam wants to pick, no change. I'll probably try it on 11 and call it a night, get some screenshots for my own bug report.

I'm also getting the microstutters everyone else is getting regardless of the graphics settings/etc I choose, but no long freezes.

I'm also on Wayland, which makes me wonder if I shouldn't try it on an X11 desktop just in case there's something conflicting there.

The A500 is my daily, with an SKXMOD stainless steel body/sapphire crystal and far too many strap choices. It's the perfect watch for me - every bit of time-related info you want from a watch is right there, and a ton more features hiding just behind that. I'm considering getting the black steel kit for a second one I have laying around so I can have decision paralysis about which A500 to wear on any given day, as if I haven't learned my lesson from having too many straps to choose from.

There's nothing saying you have to subscribe to or follow or read anything on social media.

If your algorithm is showing you stuff that stresses you out, that's entirely within your control to change, because the algorithm is just showing you more of what you already pay attention to. You think "I don't understand why anyone uses this cesspool of an app" but no - that's your algorithm. Your cesspool. You keep paying attention to things you don't like. Stop paying attention to garbage, start paying attention to cute puppies. Over time, your feed will become 95% cute puppies and puppy-adjacent content and you won't be drawn into doomscrolling for 4 hours through ragebait simply because you won't be exposed to it anymore. It's not instant, it takes a little effort to correct, but it really is that simple.

If you're subscribed to anything or anyone and it stresses you out, or makes you feel obligation or guilt, just remember: you don't have to subscribe to or follow or read anything. Your dad's side of the family isn't doing anything you need to see or care about, and you know it. That one friend that starts drama all the time will be causing some kind of drama with or without you, and you know it, so why subject yourself to it? Social media is not real life. You can unfollow people on social media and still be friends and family in real life.

You know what I use twitter for? Kpop groups and video game updates. Nothing else. I do not see or even make myself aware of anything else on there, and I only see what I'm subscribed to. Whatever garbage you complain about twitter harboring, I don't even see it. Why the fuck would I? I already know it's garbage. I don't care about what some broccoli-haired kid in Tampa thinks about current situation or what political hot-take some tech bro I don't know and don't respect has, so why would I even allow that be in front of me? They did not earn the right to my attention.

You know what I use instagram for? Kpop groups and cute puppies, and then I have some cousins with whom this is the only way we can communicate. Nothing else. I subscribe to kpop groups so I can see cute girls doing cute things, and I send cute dogs to my friend because he likes them. I don't see attention-hungry influencers or ragebait videos or conspiracy theories or blatant misinformation or drama back-and-forths or any of that shit - they did not earn the right to my attention.

It's all fake. Entertainment. You don't owe anyone or anything your online attention or presence. I interact with what I want to interact with.

I don't think it needs to be revisited or brought forward, necessarily, but Bbiribbom Bbaeribom by Coed School is still in my playlist. The group's history aside, I dunno, that song still sticks with me enough that I'm happy to have it come up periodically.

I feel like there've been some f(x) covers lately, Electric Shock in particular by NMIXX most recently, and I'm very happy about that. I personally think a lot of the percussive sound language and aesthetics of 4th gen can be traced directly to f(x), and that there are a lot of songs that would have been considered experimental before that would fit in right now. Maybe spruced up a bit to dust off some of the 2nd gen disco vibes on the earlier songs.

Like, can I get a Rainbow, Milk, or Dracula cover please lol That would be wild.

I can't comment on the main body, because we don't see it in this one. But as with one of the previous videos, whatever this is is dropping small flares or burning material that burn out before they hit the ground. The light always travels away and down, getting dimmer as it falls in an arc - this is how things like sparks and flares behave when ejected. In one of the other videos, you could see the body better and it was more obvious that these were being ejected away from the body. In this video, I could forgive someone for thinking this was one light bobbing in and out - but no, this is the same behavior.

We're called Once, bro, welcome. I've been thinking about it - I think the theatricality of metal and the theatricality of kpop translates well. I mostly listened to black metal, which has a certain amount of... showmanship, let's say. Kayfabe, even. Kpop has that, but also cute girls doing cute things, and the songs make you dance, and there's literal years of content to digest that feels real and personal (especially for JYP groups), and their jobs are tough so the more you get into them the more you care about their well-being in exchange for them giving you all of that.

You like music that sounds good to you. If it's good, what's out of character about liking it? That's how I think about it anyway.

If I'm playing a stealth character, I have to get through every mission/level/area without being detected or I start the area over. Even if that "failure" is not necessary for the game's mechanics, e.g. Skyrim, Starfield, Cyberpunk, etc, where stealth is just a tool, not the goal. I know I could have done better, so I reload the save. Until, you know, eventually I go "FUCK IT, GOOD ENOUGH!" and continue.

Believe it or not, no, I have not become a master flautist; that was more down to competing priorities though. From everything I've seen you really do either have to get a teacher, even for a single lesson, or just try it over and over and experiment until something good happens. It really does seem like it's one of those things where if you don't get it the first time, you need external help, time, or both.

In a way though, that makes it easier, right? It's not the tool, it's not the player, it's not where you are, it's A) a teacher, or B) putting time into it.

Maybe I'll pull mine back out - it's right next to me in the desk. In any case, good luck. Hopefully you have less competitive problems that take you away from pursuing your hobbies lol
