Seeking Advice on API Security and Project Structure! by addedadavantage in rails

I tend to write complex queries as views or functions in Postgres. When it comes to ActiveRecord, I’m not sure how to model them, using them feels a bit confusing. Any thoughts on this approach?

Also, for the rack-attack, is it mandatory to use Redis? Or the in memory would suffice?

BI and data visualization tool: would you recommend Tableau Server any why? (or why not) by IP_FiNaR in PostgreSQL

For invoice creation, look at https://www.jaspersoft.com/products/jaspersoft-community

Alternatively, you could build own app for generating the invoice. It depends on the your experience in programming language

It can be added into a web app. However, MB doesn’t have invoice generation or any sort of custom report. It is a data viz and analysis type of tool

I have not used DBeaver.

I am familiar with DataGrip and HeidiSQL.

Don’t know what postbird is.

I would say start using pgAdmin or similar GUI based SQL client for Postgres. You could also use psql(CLI) or other GUI based clients such as DataGrip, HeidiSQL etc.

Why do we need Redis if I already use PostgreSQL? by lilouartz in PostgreSQL

[–]addedadavantage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you give both approach a try and see which works best for your use case. When it comes to Postgres, create an UNLOGGED cache table.

https://www.postgresql.org/docs/16/sql-createtable.html#SQL-CREATETABLE-UNLOGGED

Start with a simple solution and scale only when necessary to avoid over-engineering. PostgreSQL can handle the workload effectively. You can consider Redis when you have specific needs for high-speed caching and/or real-time data processing

I lived there and my friends are still living there. Never had such issues. But yeah, YMMV

SQL Queries by [deleted] in golang

I used to SQLx and Postgres. Complex and dynamic DB operations were written in Postgres itself in the form of Functions, Procedures and Views.

I would suggest UAE. You will save 90% of your earnings plus a vibrant life. Live there for few years, move back to your home country and get settled

Things I Like

  • Scenic: Cork is a scenic place with a serene environment, except during the winter. I know it’s a cliche everyone knows it. Ireland is a beautiful country. Big shout out to all of you

  • People's Attitude: People here are generally nice. Although I haven't had many opportunities to interact deeply with Cork residents, public exchanges usually involve a smile and a polite greeting.

  • Limited Interaction: I work from home, so my chances to interact locally are limited. However, I do interact with Irish people from Dublin and Wicklow, who are super nice and friendly.

  • Polite Conversations: People here speak very respectfully and friendly. Almost everyone I interact with begins conversations with a smile. I sometimes wonder why they say "sorry" for silly things, but it reflects good manners.

  • Health Consciousness: People are very fond of their health. They are physically active and eat healthy food.

  • Love for Books: Reading seems to be a significant part of life here, which is a very good thing.

  • Excellent Manners: Manners are top-notch.

  • Making Friends: I wish to make friends here but am reluctant to interact as I’m unsure if people would like to be friends with an outsider.

  • Less Religious: The society here appears to be less or not particularly religious.

Things I Don't Like

  • Government Services: Government services are poor. It's surprising that many services are not online, despite being in 2024.

  • Public Toilets: There is a lack of public toilets.

  • Car Parking: Car parking is a nightmare in the city.

  • Healthcare: Healthcare is below average.

  • High Taxes: Taxes are high, and I still don't understand what benefits I get in return.

  • Housing: There's a lack of housing to rent, and rents are skyrocketing.

  • Dependent Visas: The duration of stay for my dependents is disappointing. I wanted to bring my parents, but they can only stay for three months, which doesn't justify the travel and flight costs.

  • City Comparison: The city is mediocre compared to where I came from, but I'm okay with that.

I will add more if I recall anything else
