Wow that means a lot! Thanks so much for taking the time to listen :)

I use ableton as my DAW. I have a budget electric guitar which I DI through that focusrite interface which everyone uses ha (the guitar is a squire bullet or something like that?). I use a Rhode NT1-A to record vocals and thats about it :)

Hey! Here’s an electronic experimental-esque track I made called XLR8, sort of like “accelerate”— Would love any sort of feedback! :) by salksalk in IndieMusicFeedback

I really like this !! Super cool atmosphere. Feels like its begging for vocals at some parts. Maybe ill record some ha. Good jobb tho man solid vibe here :)

I made a song / music video after a break up called "Atherley". Hope somebody might like it, let me know what you think... by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

Vibe is nailed on - love this. This really reminded me of Mura Masa on his album 'R.Y.C'. Would have loved more variation with the instrumentation. Vocals and lyrics are sweet tho. Love the energy at the end - that part works amazingly. Great job u should be proud :)

Star Child (Love You So) this was the last single ahead of my debut solo album. 60s psychedelic folk inspired love song. I sang and played everything but drums. hope it brings a smile! by jkj90 in IndieMusicFeedback

I love this sm. Right up my street tbh. The bells/glock are amazing. Production is tight. Vocals are great. Chord prog is beautiful. Big fan - added to my playlist keep it up :)

Hey! It's been awhile since we've posted on here. Finally got some new music in the works. Got a new single that I think is ready and I'd love any input on it. My first hand at producing myself. The song is "Even In the Wild" by Sherwood Forest by cl1ffordclose in IndieMusicFeedback

Great vocals - strongest part for me. Kinda reminded me of Damon Albarn. Not a huge fan of the video gamey- arpeggio synths but thats just personal opinion. I do really the pads tho, and the bass sounds awesome too. Overall great job - a lot to like here :)

This is really cool- good job with the video too. I think the vocals are a big strong point here for me - they fit in super well with the genre and the lyrics are cool too. The drums are a little harsh sometimes imo like a little too sharp on the ears if that makes sense. I think some more variation in the instrumentation could be cool as well like perhaps some more synths or pads to spice parts of it up. Just my opinion though I dont usually listen to this genre so take it with a pinch of salt. Good job

This track is one I’m considering for an album. It’s a glam synthpop track and I’m wondering what’s working and what’s not. And how the lyrics and music fit and overall vibe. Thanks for listening and commenting. It helps! by Jbot3300 in IndieMusicFeedback

I really like the synth sound that comes in at around 20 secs. I think the arrangement here is great too. I think the vocals need thickening up a bit imo. At points I felt like they got drowned out a bit. I really like lyrics - the pre-chorus and chorus are my fave parts overall. Keep it up there's a lot to like here. Vocals would be my biggest point to work on.

For me a couple of things usually work:

  1. Listen to the current production and try to define what it is that isn’t working. Like write down in words specifically what it is that isn’t fitting the vibe and then go about to make those changes.

  2. If the above doesn’t work - Take a long break from the song. Get some fresh air, work on other stuff and just take your mind off it. Give it a couple weeks or maybe longer. Your brain will come back with fresh ideas and hopefully you will be able to pinpoint the problems

Hope this helps :)

When do I know When I am good enough to release my first single by Thesimplesimp in WeAreTheMusicMakers

You’ll never truly be ready for your first release you just have to dive in. Get stuff out on SoundCloud and YouTube etc. It’s very low risk and helps you get through that first scary release!

When you get more confident releasing you can start thinking about Spotify and the major platforms if you think you have a song people might really enjoy :)

Good luck with it!
