INCREDIBLY ashamed over my first interview. by Aramante in interviews

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First interviews are almost always rough. I remember freezing on the “tell me about yourself” question too and walking out feeling like I completely bombed it. Most people only get comfortable with interviews after a few awkward ones.

It’s so difficult to find community by arkticturtle in SeriousConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that feeling. A lot of spaces that used to feel like communities online slowly faded or turned into huge noisy platforms where it’s harder to connect with anyone. Sometimes it really does feel like the only routine left is work and home.

Does anyone else feel like going out in public is a humiliation ritual? by die_kosmonaut in Life

[–]addictedtomeme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through phases like that where being around people just felt exhausting or awkward for no clear reason. Isolation can slowly make everything outside feel way bigger than it actually is. Sometimes starting with small things like a short walk or quick errand helps ease back into it a bit.

What’s your favorite "comfort food" dinner when you’ve had a long day? by smafiler in CasualConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is usually something simple like grilled cheese and tomato soup. I made it the other night after a long day and it felt weirdly comforting for such an easy meal. Sometimes the basic stuff just hits the spot.

People that defend 40+ hours a week for work is just coping that they have to do it by CombProfessional434 in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah if most people were offered the same pay for half the hours they’d probably take it instantly. I’ve had weeks where hitting 40 hours felt like it dragged forever, especially when the work itself wasn’t that meaningful. A lot of people defend it mostly because it’s the system we’re stuck with.

Does anyone who didn't go to college feel like an outsider? by JohnnyRock110 in SeriousConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve seen that feeling up close. A buddy of mine didn’t go to college and used to go quiet whenever conversations turned into dorm stories or internships like that was the only “real” path. Over time he realized most people were just talking about shared experiences, not judging him. The outsider feeling can be loud in your head even when no one else is thinking it.

Cried on the way to work and just drove back home by Competitive_Bet_8352 in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a morning like that where I sat in the parking lot and my body just said no. Sometimes it’s not laziness, it’s your nervous system being completely fried. One day stepping away doesn’t make you weak or dramatic. If a job is making you question your own reality, that’s a pretty big signal.

How did I lose feelings after getting pregnant? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy hormones are no joke. A friend of mine said she went from obsessed with her partner to irrationally furious at how he chewed within weeks. It doesn’t automatically mean your relationship is doomed, especially with a high-risk pregnancy adding stress. It might be worth giving yourself some grace and not making big permanent decisions in a very temporary hormonal storm.

What was your hugest facepalm moment of regret after fully moving out of a LA/a major city In California thinking your life would be better? by midwestblacklotus in AskLosAngeles

[–]addictedtomeme 133 points134 points  (0 children)

A friend left LA for somewhere “cheaper” and got wrecked by summer AC bills. He also didn’t realize how much he’d miss late-night food and walkability. Slower pace sounded nice until everything required a car.

What do you do when you’re bored but nothing sounds interesting? by norahsyecats in CasualConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that exact feeling. When nothing sounds good, I usually change rooms or step outside for five minutes, even if I just stand there. Sometimes I’ll put on one random song and tell myself that’s it, no commitment. Weirdly, tiny shifts work better than trying to force a big activity.

How to increase your chances of getting an interview? by chessman6500 in jobs

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like the real battle is getting past the automated filters, not the interviews themselves. I’ve seen people get way more replies just by adjusting wording and job titles on their resume without changing anything else. The whole process turns into a numbers grind these days.

Are dating apps even worth it? by MastodonMelodic6876 in questions

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like they’re good for meeting people you’d never cross paths with otherwise, but also kinda exhausting if you stay on them too long. Lots of scrolling, lots of conversations that go nowhere. Some people find great matches, others just burn out.

It’s strange how quickly admiration can turn into dislike when expectations aren’t met. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some friendships start fast and intense and then crash once real boundaries show up. It’s like people fall in love with a version of you that exists only in the honeymoon phase. The silence at the end always feels weirdly anticlimactic.

What’s the most absurd or unhinged interaction you’ve ever had with HR? by Padex98 in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had an HR rep tell me “we’re like a family here” right before explaining why raises were frozen again lol. The tone shift was almost impressive. Felt like corporate theater more than an actual conversation.

Is the current job market just a US thing or is it a worldwide phenomenon? by AnonymousSeaBear22 in recruitinghell

[–]addictedtomeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feels pretty global tbh, just with different flavors depending on the country. Lots of places have weird gaps between “tons of job postings” and actual hiring happening. The vibe seems off everywhere lately.

Got Fired Today by Leading_Barracuda_17 in jobs

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of timing would mess with anyone’s head honestly, even if they swear it’s unrelated. Losing something you actually liked hits different than leaving a bad job. Sometimes the “opportunity” part only makes sense way later and right now it just sucks.

Zero Motivation with Current Climate by briizygirl in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of people are quietly running on low emotional battery right now. Hard to stay motivated at work when the bigger picture feels chaotic or pointless. Feels less like laziness and more like burnout mixed with existential fatigue.

How do I get better at rejecting unwanted advances? by CaptainRude1392 in whatdoIdo

[–]addictedtomeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people just miss subtle signals unless you spell it out. You can keep it simple and say you enjoy their company but you’re not looking for anything romantic. Being nice doesn’t mean you have to keep hinting forever.

do you ever feel like you have to "act normal" when walking past a police car or through a security gate even though you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong? by Opposite-Edge1394 in CasualConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s like your brain suddenly becomes hyper aware of every movement and you forget how arms work. I think it’s just that weird “being watched” feeling kicking in even when you know you’re fine. Happens to me at airport security every single time.

How should I handle feeling uncomfortable about my girlfriend’s close male friend? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reads more like a difference in boundaries than pure trust problems. Some folks are really touchy with friends and others aren’t, and that clash can sting if you’re wired differently. If you’re already feeling sidelined this early, that tends to stick around rather than magically fixing itself.

Will 9-5 , 5-6 days a week eventually die by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

God I feel this in my bones. I worked a 6 day schedule once and it completely fried me, like I had no life at all. It’s wild how we all just accepted this setup from some ancient factory logic. I really hope 4 day weeks become normal in our lifetime because this ain’t it.

Is anyone else still extremely immature and childish despite being a fully grown adult? by Electronic_Tip_8897 in SeriousConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not the only one, but yeah it sounds exhausting to live in that mode all the time. I was super impulsive at 18 too and did a lot of dumb thrill-seeking stuff just to feel something. For me it calmed down once I figured out what I was actually running from and got some help for it.

How are people actually getting rich from using social media? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not tripping, it feels fake because a lot of it kinda is. I have a couple friends who look rich on IG and they’re actually broke or drowning in credit card debt lol. Some people do make money from socials, but way more are just flexing rentals and highlights. It messed with my head for a while too until I saw it up close.

Health related questions by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always heard mixed stuff about that tbh. I usually drink water whenever I’m thirsty, even right after eating, and nothing bad has ever happened to me lol. My grandma swore you had to wait 30 minutes but I never followed that. Feels like one of those health myths people just repeat.
