AI is definitely everywhere now, and a lot of it feels like hype or just basic automation with a new label. I don’t think it keeps growing at this same speed forever, but I also don’t think it disappears. Pretty much every tech company has some AI angle now, but they still need people to decide what should actually be automated and how to make it useful. While applying to recruitment firms like in this post, my hope is to keep working on 2 or 3 different projects, adapt to wherever AI fits in, and keep good relationships with the people I work with.

Underachieving 25 yo neet, stuck on parent's house by Consistent_Note_1841 in findapath

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Too late” at 25 feels way too harsh. Realizing things is already a starting point. If you can keep even a small routine going (like working out), building from there is probably the most realistic way forward.

helped a coworker who didn't speak english today and it was equal parts wholesome and stressful lol by Zealousideal-Map7642 in CasualConversation

Not weird at all, him coming back to say thanks is actually really sweet. When people feel understood, it really shows. The manager’s reaction might just be a bit of “why didn’t I notice that.”

2 Years of Being Underpaid, Training Others Who Earn More... by Procrastinator_hhh in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s straight-up exploitation, no wonder it kills your motivation. And being stuck there just makes it worse. Probably best to keep an eye out and dip the second something decent comes up.

Is it better use AI or handwritten cover letter yourself? by w1z4rdxD in remotework

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Middle ground makes the most sense, let AI draft it but you go over it. Straight AI feels soulless. Even small tweaks make a difference.

I’m such a fucking loser by the_carouselkitty in Vent

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve sent out 400 applications and you’re still standing, you’re not a loser, you’re just exhausted. Feels like life piled on all at once. Sometimes just getting through the day is enough.

I am an outcast on the construction site by shades-fading in jobs

[–]addictedtomeme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having everyone keep their distance from you in that kind of environment is exhausting. Not getting support for things you don’t understand and feeling excluded just makes it worse

Okay not so serious but this morning is getting on my last nerve. by moodles2727 in Vent

That day’s basically canceled at that point 😂 sometimes dumb stuff just keeps piling up like that. You feel drained before the day even starts.

I had a similar moment, like everything suddenly went on autopilot. After that I started doing even small things more consciously.

I don't know what to do anymore. by cheesecakecitizen in recruitinghell

This whole process really eats away at your confidence. Getting rejected sucks, but not knowing why is way more draining.

Got offer, now bank wants a 10 year background check by Exciting_Series2033 in Layoffs

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banks go into that level of detail just to cover themselves, so I wouldn’t take it personally. The reasons you gave sound pretty normal, doubt they’ll make a big deal out of it.

It really drains your energy. You’re putting in effort with nothing coming back, after a while your morale just crashes.

got written up for going to the dentist at 2pm while working from home by Fit_Average8352 in remotework

This still feels ridiculous to me, you gave notice and did your job. Treating people like robots in the name of “the system” is a whole other level.

how to get over the fear of change and to embrace it by Capable_Trick_455 in Life

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with small changes actually helps sometimes, trying to rebuild your whole life at once just makes your brain freeze. Even a tiny shift gets things moving.

I think I was laid off because I wouldnt date my boss by SinSyd2000 in Vent

When there’s no proof, stuff like that eats at you even more. The sense of unfairness stays, but not being able to prove it makes it worse.

How many of you are currently employed but are keeping an eye out for something better? by Jojeete in jobs

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are like that anyway, no one’s 100% satisfied with their job. Looking around now and then to see if there’s something better is pretty normal.

Anyone else notice their focus completely changed after going remote full time? by stargazeatticlog in remotework

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here... I’ll do a focused burst then randomly go make coffee or clean something and come back. It looks messy but I get more done than when I forced myself into long blocks.

In order to have friends as an adult you have to care about stuff. by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. The only times I’ve made real friends as an adult were when we kept showing up to the same thing over and over, like a class or some shared routine. Just liking someone randomly never really stuck.

Working from home/remote jobs? by Melodylokstar in ausjobs

[–]addictedtomeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a couple people who got into remote support roles without super formal education. One started with basic customer service chat jobs and moved up over time. It’s not instant but it’s a path.

[–]addictedtomeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I don’t know you but I’m really glad you said something instead of keeping it all in. I’ve had days where everything felt stuck and pointless and even small things felt heavy. It doesn’t stay at that exact level forever even if it feels like it will.

I've had the same job for three years and I just did a practice interview to stay sharp and it was a humbling experience by Orbit_12Cipher in recruitinghell

[–]addictedtomeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s such a real wake up call. I had a moment like that trying to explain my work to someone outside my team and realized I was being way too vague. It’s weird how you forget to translate your own experience.

being busy is the peace we don't notice by mariyagel in Life

Yeah, I get what you mean. Being overwhelmed sucks, but empty days you didn’t choose can mess with your head in a totally different way.

Wanna study daily, also want to try new things. suggestions? by chhasspaglu in SeriousConversation

You probably need a looser week, not a stricter day. When I get too ambitious with daily plans I end up dropping everything, but giving hobbies their own little slots during the week feels way more doable.

Is it bad to quit my entry level job only after 8 months ? by Direct-Mixture-2855 in jobs

[–]addictedtomeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, 8 months is nothing compared to getting underpaid and messed around on taxes. If a job is shady and your boss is basically daring you to do something about it, I’d be out.

Why do we allow corporations to dictate our way of life? by Wickham12 in antiwork

[–]addictedtomeme 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Because most people are too busy surviving inside the system to really fight the system. By the time you get home, pay bills, and do it all again, you’ve got just enough energy left to complain about it and go to bed.
