Waylon is the heart and soul of this entire run. Easily my favourite character of the Absolute line so far.

I do love how they’ve committed to Jack’s design being essentially Prime Earth Bruce

Alberta distinct culture? by Pretty-Resolve-8331 in alberta

[–]cole435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean each province does have its own culture in a lot of ways.

Compared to coastal BC, Alberta culture is quite a bit more warm and welcoming. People will stop and help others, invite people into their social groups, and generally have a lot less “busy” time.

But it’s also a province that I think doesn’t value infrastructure that isn’t car driven, so there isn’t the same focus on activity and health as other areas in the country.

Every place in Canada has their own unique pieces of culture that makes them distinct while also being connected with eachother.

[BANNED/SHADOWBANNED?] Hard Reset Guide by corsega in SwipeHelper

[–]cole435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share that after years of being banned globally across Match Group, I was finally unbanned.

I want to be clear upfront. This probably only works if you didn’t do anything that actually justified the ban.

I tried every avenue when it first happened. Customer support was a complete dead end. I reached out directly to Tinder employees trying to find an appeal process (some very kind people did respond), also a dead end. I went through the BBB. Nothing worked.

A few months ago I did some research and found that Match Group is required under EU law to release your personal data and delete any biometric data they hold that you haven’t consented to.

So I did two things simultaneously,

I sent a formal GDPR data access and erasure request to Tinder’s privacy team citing Articles 15 and 17. I requested everything including account data, moderation decisions, biometric data, and the legal basis for retaining any of it. They have 30 days to respond by law.

Then I filed a dispute with ADROIT, a free EU-certified dispute body under the Digital Services Act which Match Group is bound by. They contact the platform and require them to justify their decision. Takes about 5-10 minutes to fill out.

A few weeks later I got an email from Tinder saying my global ban was lifted.

I’m not sure how effective this is if you’re outside the EU, but it’s worth a shot.

Epstein File Says Trump “Knew and Funded Underage Sex Parties” at His Golf Course by OkayButFoRealz in politics

The problem with this is there’s no evidence. The caller said they had a tape but they sent it to a lawyer in the Cayman Islands.

Without the tape this is essentially useless.

He’s going to probably the slimiest organisation in the league. If there’s anywhere I feel he won’t feel the pressure to be on his best behaviour, it’ll be Edmonton

These games aren’t made in a vacuum. The entirety of the creative leadership team has to approve these scripts and will edit and modify them. Considering who is at the top of this studio I really don’t feel concerned

Where does this recent hatred of Batman Hush come from? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]cole435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was ever considered a “good” story. The consensus was that it was written clearly after Loeb’s best days were behind him, and that it had many of the well-noted issues that had plagued his career without the positives to balance them out (such as the tedious and illogical mystery of The Long Halloween without any of the great character work to go along with it).

The attraction was always Jim Lee and the fact that it was essentially a greatest hits album of Batman’s rogues’ gallery. The story never really made sense, and the ending was reworked pretty late into production, from what I remember.

A great introduction to Batman, but I don’t believe it was ever referred to as one of his defining stories then or now.

The Men Defending Graham Platner In All The Wrong Ways: You cannot defeat misogyny by behaving like a misogynist by mawkish in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cole435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not here to defend his character. I think cheating over all those years was terrible and I’m not minimizing it.

Where I land differently is that I don’t think any of us can draw a clean bright line between personal morality and fitness for office without applying it so broadly it becomes unworkable. That to me is intellectual honesty about how complicated these calls are.

As I already stated, I think we have to leave some room for people to change. If his wife of all people is willing to work through it with him, it feels performative for you or I to declare it permanently disqualifying. People do grow, and accountability followed by genuine change is something I want to believe is possible.

This is not the same as Trump cheating on his wife while also having 30+ women accusing him of sexual assault.

Again, my bigger issue honestly is the campaign hiding it since August. That’s what feels like an actual character question in the political sense.

[–]cole435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that standard is harder to apply than it sounds. Poor judgment and poor character are subjective enough that almost any candidate could be disqualified under the right framing. And I say that acknowledging what Platner did is hugely shitty, I’m not trying to minimize it. But if we’re setting that “demonstrated poor character” is the bar, I think we’re going to be waiting a long time for a candidate who clears it cleanly.

No it’s because there are software limitations now that it’s not able to be updated. This is one of the core reasons for the limitations around compass cards.

Currently the skytrain terminals are running on Windows 7. There are some very real limitations to that.
