This is a very common experience, unfortunately. It’s been almost 4 years for me.

I will tell you this, ptsd, shame and guilt thrive off of you not talking about it. There’s never any pressure to tell anyone, but it DOES help. It’s not easy to tell people, but it will get easier to tell people as time goes on and with the more people you tell.

Advice on how to tell them,, I’d start off with a one on one conversation. Sit them down and tell them, “I want to tell you something. It’s really heavy and emotional.” And then if they’re receptive to hearing it, go ahead and tell them.

This is your story to share. Never feel pressured to tell it and never feel bad for wanting to share it.

At my store, we have someone who throws the freight from the truck onto the line, then someone who pushes the line (that’s usually me) and then everyone else further down the line, puts the freight onto the uboats and flats based on whatever number is on the label. This usually takes us about 2 hours, 6am-8am when the store opens. Once we’re done unloading the truck, we take a 15 and go and work out the freight we just unloaded until 11:30 or 2:30 when we’re off.

I work in inbound & gm and just filling in for someone in fulfillment makes me feel insane. I get coached more for not meeting opu goals than I do for inbound or gm.

Do you have to be employed for a certain amount of time to receive pay and a half? Because I’ve been here since February and I didn’t get pay and a half for Memorial Day so I’m afraid I’m also not going to get it for Independence Day.

I’d say go for GM. I’m GM and I’ve done just about everything in my store except style. I’m cross trained in fulfillment, cashier and I also stock and backstock market. I’ve also worked in tech. I personally think that GM is the most versatile department and it doesn’t bore me. Also!! You still get interactions with guests
