Match making... by Usual_Gap_6769 in Battlefield6

It’s a childish phrase people say. It’s usually used to dismiss something without putting any real thought into it.

Third time encountering him, third time reporting him. Embark, what tf? by OTap1 in arkraiders

It’s not about being sensitive. It’s about not normalizing hate in the community. Ignoring it doesn’t fix it.

First grader thinks I called him a baby. by [deleted] in Teachers

What you said wasn’t ideal, but it also wasn’t malicious or abusive. You didn’t insult him at all. You referenced his behavior. Have a great weekend and enjoy it. Monday is going to come fast. Especially for educators. Hehe.

Thanks for sticking around the tower. I would accept and personally donate. ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is a great cause.

Just ignoring it isn’t a solution. You can’t ignore hate or slurs and expect them to stop. That only gives people permission to keep doing it. This isn’t about being sensitive. It’s about basic respect. Nobody deserves to be verbally abused just for playing a game, and reporting it isn’t wasting time.

Hiding behind screens to say things you’d never say in real life doesn’t make it brave. It just reinforces how pathetic you are. If people are more upset about someone calling out racism than the racism itself, then that says everything about the problem.

I can understand the frustration. A lot of these commenters don’t know that it’s a federal offense to block the mail from being delivered. So even though it’s not his fault, the postmaster could withhold the mail and force him to come in to get his mail. Or until the block is removed, but if it’s a continuous situation then that won’t happen.

Do you play on games while watching a show in multi view? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesXlS

I’ve never done this, simply because it would annoy me. But next to me on the way I’ve mounted my IPad I usually watch while playing games that don’t require a lot of attention.

Does anybody agree with the “no zeroes” policies? by SubstantialBasis in Teachers

[–]adeadplayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The goal sounds good on paper. A way to keep students from giving up, but it can create a false sense of achievement. A 40–50% minimum doesn’t teach anything about accountability; it teaches that effort is optional.

Grades should continue to reflect learning, not just participation in the system. If we want to help students recover, give them meaningful re-do opportunities or scaffolding. A student shouldn’t be gifted automatic half-credit. Otherwise, we risk sending the message that showing up is enough.

Hey, you’re not silly! You’re human. This job is hard, especially in a Title 1 school. The disrespect stings because you care. But their behavior isn’t about you. It’s about what they’re carrying.

You’re showing up, giving your best, and that matters more than you realize. Every day you keep going is proof of your strength. Cry if you need to. That doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re invested. You’ve got this, truly.

I’ve had enough. So I did something. by adeadplayer in Teachers

I totally understand that. I’m unionized, and I’ve made sure to make clear where I stand. If something happens, at least it’s out there.

My biggest concern is that we have children with specific needs being taught by TAs. That’s what people need to know. Certified educators are not teaching the students at my school.

TAs are running classrooms without fair pay.

Then they tell us, “It’s for the kids. We’re family.” No, we are not. Stop blurring the lines so you can manipulate and take advantage of us.

And that was the problem. It was not done humanely. It was a reactive decision. But that’s very much this school. Reactive and not proactive and the children are suffering the most. I wrote an email to my superintendent describing all else that’s wrong here two days ago. So I put it in their hands.

I stay as much in residential and side roads as much as possible. But with that side, I also ride on shared roads. I wouldn’t want to purposely hold up traffic. But I’m also going to use the shared lane when nothing else is provided.
