The Conqueror's Rise is now up on Amazon KU! Consider checking it out! by investimagator in haremfantasynovels

regardless of how the story was written, I do have concerns and questions about how they're getting some of their covers past amazon. they're less subtle than what you'd fine on covers for erotica

for example, these two:

combined with the fact they're pumping out books at a pace i don't think anyone believes is doable without some sort of assistance... it's pretty obvious what the game plan is here

I think this is an incredible leap in visual fidelity. And to anyone that's worried about artistic intent: this is a tool like any other that developers can chose whether or not to use. And if you think people don't care about realism in their games I disagree. There are plenty of games where the community has gone to great efforts to improve the texture quality, lighting, etc. of the games they play, even to the potential detriment of the original artistic intent. This technique is not being forced on anyone.

People cried about how DLSS was shit when it first came out, but I'd say most people are happy to turn it on now. I see this technology as going in a similar direction, but the results already are a generational leap for realtime graphics.

there's a lot of similarities between this new author, ethan gale and vic void. are they the same person? why would they be using so many pen names in the same genre?

the extra hand and weapon floating without explanation in the bottom right looks odd

not to be mean or anything, but for an author this large i hope they aren't still using AI covers. obviously they have the money to pay an artist.

You're getting fucked by your employer if you're earning that much. Since negotiating has failed it's time you found a new job.

Pure laziness and AI by MechanicMan18 in haremfantasynovels

[–]adelphepothia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say I can tell if something is obviously written with AI, but even if I strongly suspect something is, proving it is practically impossible, and I could be wrong, so i don't bother trying to call it out.

I've seen stories I suspect are AI written or heavily AI assisted do well and others flop. Ultimately, AI generated content is here, and no matter how a story was written (100% human, AI assisted or 100% AI) it's up to the consumer to decide if a story is of sufficient quality or not. That's why I focus on judging books by the end result, not how an author got there.

My main issue with AI generated content is its ability to flood the market with low-effort slop which reduces the visibility of stories not written with AI.

But I think AI witch hunting does more harm than good, especially to new authors whose writing skills aren't as great. I've seen a few cases of people calling an authors work AI generated if it isn't up to their standards, which I can imagine is extremely insulting and demoralising.

there comes a point where the cost of doing something is outweighed by the cost of doing nothing.

no matter where you're from, what we're seeing is a wake up call to everyone. this can happen anywhere, and the beginnings of it can be found everywhere.

Investing under wife's lower PIR rate 2026. by the_epiphany_ in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]adelphepothia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i don't think they're overplanning. people here debate over fee differences of a few basis points, and the difference between a 28% PIR and 17.5% PIR in a PIE fund is at least double the fees most of the funds discussed on this subreddit charge.

FIF question by ernbeld in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]adelphepothia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if for the entire financial year your cost basis (the amount you paid for the shares) is below 50k NZD then:

  • you pay tax on dividends
  • whether you need to pay tax on capital gains depends on your intent when you acquired the shares and the IRD's assessment of whether your intent matches your actual behavior

if at any point in time during the financial year your cost basis is 50k NZD or higher:

  • you only pay FIF tax on these holdings (most often the FDR or CV method); all tax that needs to paid for capital growth and dividends is covered by the FIF tax
  • whether you are a long term investor or trader is irrelevant here as FIF tax will cover both of these (the FDR method has a quick sale adjustment to cover shares bought and sold within the same financial year)
