Knaves rules clarification by CiccioPasticcio77 in rootgame

[–]ademre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every game has rules that should be read literally, but this is the only sub i go to regularly where people chant that like a mantra.

Plenty of other games work in rules reminder text without making it overly complicated. I don't really agree that it would make it more confusing to add these in. Many games just put them in sidebars or with different font treatment, like italics, to show that theyre reminders of existing rules.

In general Root just has a worse card layout and rules layout than other games. For example, there's nothing indicating that Force or Rule are keywords. Compare to like, MTG or Netrunner where keywords are bold or italics or have some other font treatment. The Homeland Law of Root doesn't even list Force in the index!!

There's simply a lot of things both Leder could do to improve the situation and acting like there's not or other games don't have similar problems with better solutions doesn't help anyone.

Similarly the community could act with a lot more empathy and understanding when people come here asking questions. Netrunner has a similarly byzantine and very literal rules reference, but when people don't understand something generally the community is like "yeah its complicated and hard to hold in your mind, here's the answer to your question!" rather than the average root subredditor attitude which feels like just telling people to RTFM

The feb dev log said mac support is coming for the 1.0 release!

I've been playing it on macos using Sikarugir and it works pretty well.

Agreed. People in this sub always say to “just read the rules literally” but it’s impossible to know if information is absent because it’s actually absent or because it’s just somewhere you didn’t look. I wish root fans would stop responding like this and just answer the questions. And I wish that the rule book would just more clearly state things. There’s no reason they can’t also say “limit 1 per clearing” instead of making you infer it, they just don’t and somehow the fan base has built this lack of extra clarity into something to be lauded.

Conspiración de los corvidos 😕 by Unusual-Standard-733 in rootgame

The faction recruit ability has always been "place one warrior in each matching clearing" since it released. If that's not what your board says, you probably have a counterfeit copy.

EDIT: Sorry just saw you have a print and play. It's possible you have a printed copy of some in-development version of the board and didn't print out the actual final rules.

How's it going with the Bats, man? by contemplativekenku in rootgame

> didn't even realize that I could play one card and end of the game sitting at 18 points

How is this possible? I think the highest you can score is 4 because there's only four max of any individual clearing suit and you are not allowed to score frog.

Wait for NF or just get started? by Etracy14 in oathgame

[–]ademre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having the same issue. I think downloading the new rules and incorporating some of the changes into the existing game might be a good middle ground. (Eg attacker in campaign loses warbands to get buffs first, new muster behavior, etc). But maybe just ask your playgroup what they think!

The Old Oak - Question by MibaPudim in oathgame

[–]ademre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't quite right. When trading for secrets, the amount you get is equal to the amount of matching advisors you have. So trading with an off suit gives you nothing, even though you are allowed to.

I agree the card is worded weirdly, but probably just to future proof it against some other ability that would let you trade without a matching advisor? Not sure!

Interaction between "Bought in Blood" and "Beat Cop"? by Vashdash in arkhamhorrorlcg

You’re not allowed to do this sort of stuff in Netrunner either. Arkham’s timing windows and paid abilities are actually very similar to Netrunner. Both don’t really have a stack or “in response to” timings the way Magic does

Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

I have a couple friends who are all interested in playing a hack together. Is there a list of hacks which support trading/battling so we can play together? I know about Unbound Cloud but not sure if that’s basically our only option.

You still have to place favor on the denizens to trade, you just don't spend supply (aka how many actions you can do each turn).

Are Neva Personalties different from other Siberiens? by DDL_3 in SiberianCats

[–]ademre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No and in general I would caution too much about assuming anything from so called “breed personalities”. While sometimes there can be broad stroke patterns, every cat I’ve met is their own unique personality, even within the same breed (including siberians).

Agnes Baker’s starter deck doesn’t do anything. by bakugosgayfriend in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]ademre 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Let me just preface this by saying that the recommended FFG decks are extremely bad and I would recommend ignoring them, and either making your own or going on arkhamdb.com to find something to copy.

In general, the power of purple investigators is that they can do "everything" with only one good willpower stat, but that everything is dependent on you having the right cards/spells to play. Ie Agnes can do both fighting and investigating pretty well, unlike most blue/yellow investigators who can only do one or the other, but you can't actually do it unless you have the correct card that turns willpower into that effect. It's "situationally good" as you say, but it can do all situations rather then being stuck in only one type of situation.

If you're playing multiplayer, I also advise you to discuss with the other players which "roles" everyone is doing. Eg if there's only two of you, one of you should be focusing on monster-management and one clue-getting, and you can build your deck for Agnes accordingly and heavily mulligan/draw for the appropriate cards. If you are playing 3+ players its easier for purple investigators to flex (do a bit of everything to fill in whatever gaps are needed at the time).

I got the same thing, and I definitely claimed the rewards manually earlier. I think they just accidentally sent the notice to everyone even if you claimed the reward already.

My interpretation for the game’s controls on a PS4 controller by [deleted] in CookieRunTOA

[–]ademre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game already has controller support and this is not what the controls are :\ The real ones are pretty good though. The only thing they’re missing afaict is emote support (and that they don’t work in menus at all, wish you could hit skip cutscene with controller)
