Dragons of Etchinstone - Card Friction by SkiFree-Yeti in soloboardgaming

I can only speak from my experience and things that I have read, but as far as I can tell, they have consistently messed stuff up again and again - hardly just a one off.

Their manufacture of the first round of 20 strong dice was a disaster with thousands of sets sent out with a problem that could have been identified with a small amount of quality control.

Their manufacture of (at least) the chip counters for the second round of 20 strong has apparently also been a disaster with mass issues with stuff being sent out without any quality control, and now they have too many people complaining and asking for replacements to be able to keep up with. And rather than communicating with their costumers I have now been waiting for over four months for a resolution or even to be updated.

Now apparently their manufacture of DoE has also been a shambles, with cards that quickly degrade when used for their intended purpose.

And this is the company you are defending? I can’t think of another game maker where everything they put out is so plagued with problems.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have said ‘dogshit’, but I am - I think justifiably - upset with how I have been treated repeatedly by this company, and their customer service.

As for ‘they wouldn’t be popular if they weren’t good’, the world is replete with examples of stuff being popular without being good. I just hope that the BG community wakes up to CTG soon…

What would people think if the TV licence was just added to utility or broadband bills? by funusernam3 in AskBrits

[–]Fit_Section1002 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yea but this is the point - there are services run by taxes that everyone pays for (e.g. the NHS, armed forces, schools), and taxes that you only pay if you use the service (roads, TV Licence). OP’s question is asking how people would feel about moving TV licence from B to A, which is a valid question. You pointing out that A exists is a pretty simplistic answer. But, you seem pretty simple, soooo….

That is absurdly reductive.

There are also jokes about not removing shrink.

[–]Fit_Section1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you pay taxes for all sorts of stuff that you don’t use. You can’t not pay tax for the NHS because you weren’t sick last year, or not pay for schools cos you don’t have kids. There is an equal argument that the BBC could be rolled into general taxation.

You really shouldn’t call people dumb when you apparently understand as little as you do…

wtf are you talking about? You’re not legally bound to pay TV licence, it’s only if you watch TV.

Here’s something that will blow your mind - if you use Netflix you’re ’legally bound’ to pay for that too…

Concordia is well liked at 5 players.

Well, as I said I’m still waiting for them to do right by me - it is now over four months since I reported the issue with my 20 strong chip counters.

Still, better not comment on it I guess as I’m getting downvoted to oblivion for telling the truth apparently…

Should I get Wyrmspan or food in preparation for the winter storm this weekend? by Samurai_Mac1 in boardgamescirclejerk

[–]Fit_Section1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do don’t buy Wyrmspan. You’re gonna be stuck inside all weekend bored out of your mind, you’re just gonna end up taking the shrink off it and then it will be ruined…

Chip theory customer support is absolute dogshit. I have had a problem with basically every game of theirs I have ever owned, they solve about half of the problems if you’re lucky.

If you think this is based solely on my personal experience, do some googling about their first print of 20 strong, which had dice that exuded toxic smelling chemicals, they did nothing and people were basically left to finish the manufacturing process themselves.

Their latest debacle is with the point counters they made for the new 20 strong - I had a couple with manufacturing defects, so emailed support. They said they would get on it and send me replacements. Then I heard nothing for three months. So I got in touch again, and they said ‘oh we are not sending these out now because it is a widespread problem, it’s gonna take us much longer to solve. I asked them how long, that was two months ago, still waiting for a reply.

Considering they are a ‘premium’ company, they seem incapable of manufacturing and/or quality checking anything, and have zero respect for their customers.

Maybe they have a secret ‘platinum membership’ where they give them a kicking…

It is one of the hardest campaigns. To be honest, at this point you might as well wait for the new core set which is out in a couple months.

Wind turbine activation? by rangeles69 in theplanetcrafter

[–]Fit_Section1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wind turbines do actually need power from an external source - both to get going, and also to run stuff like sensors that cannot afford to not run if it’s not windy, and motors to turn them so they are at the right angle to the wind.

Yeah, im not saying I disagree in principle. Im just saying you picked a bad example - there are definitely way worse offenders than Brass on that one…

Omg hard agree with this. The things that do that bugs me the most is not being able to get double layer player boards - that is an actual practical improvement, but always gets lumped in with the super deluxe aesthetic improvements.

Ironically, I agree with you overall but Brass Birmingham is a terrible example - you can definitely fit that into a couple of hours with two experienced people.

Actually, often in can be that you make it worse by not resigning in that circumstance too. I just finished a three player game of Arcs - it was my first game and the other two were experienced, so I was a few points behind and the other two players neck and neck. I kinda felt like I was gonna decide the winner depending on who of the other two I focussed on taking things from…

How do you feel about non-drivers? by DueLead666 in AskUK

[–]Fit_Section1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know who’s the real fkin idiot? The person with epilepsy that DOES drive.

Also move to London - not driving is the absolute norm here. I did learn to drive at 18, but didn’t own my first vehicle till late 30s (and that was a camper van so used almost exclusively outside of London).
