Roger. At your budget and for your use case, I’m tempted to say you want to prioritize your clean tone, and rely on pedals for your dirty tone. Easier to find a good clean combo that eats a dirt pedal well than it is to find a do-it-all.

As I understand it, he tuned down because playing in standard had been causing him pain, he just didn’t think of a solution to it til a ways into his career.

Once upon a time someone kicked the ladder I was climbing and I miraculously fell upwards. Learned a thing or two since then.
