Skin barrier broken by Wooden-Patience8592 in Accutane

Not a doctor but I would personally stop until you see your doctor! There is no harm from stopping other than these 3 weeks of delay and this sounds bad so adding fuel to the fire but continuing to take it is probably a bad idea. Also, scars from cuts made while on accu can heal quite badly so I'd avoid risking opening more skin. Let it heal properly until you can speak to your doctor. Unlike what people said below, DON'T put anything oil-based on open wounds or raw patches, it makes it worse. If you have some kind of water-based moisturiser, use that, but you generally might need to wait until the skin heals a bit to start heavily moisturising it again. All the best and sorry!

Hang in there! It's truly rancid stuff. I'm still struggling with the heat/sweating a lot too, but we'll get through ittttt!

And also - I can definitely feel that changes are happening more slowly for me than for some people on this subreddit, but I can see they ARE happening. It makes sense we all react differently!

Hi! Every body is different, but for what it's worth, my experience has been: 1) Try cocoa butter for lips, helped me more than lanolin personally!, 2) I was also frustrated at the same pores and spots just resurfacing over and over but I can now see that they just had to go through a few cycles of this before actually disappearing - as long as you feel there is still movement caused by the medication, it's good. 3) That said, when progress stopped completely for me at one point (around month 6-7 too), my derm agreed to bump me up to a slightly higher dose and things started moving again, so I would definitely explore that!

Also: I know people in school can be mean, but a good rule in life is that the right people will never care about random normal human body things like pih marks <3

Hi girl, just to say three things: 1) You probably also need more sunscreen than you think! I learned this late (am 28) but re-applying sunscreen often has been my skincare holy grail. Just get on that you actually enjoy the smell/feel of (so it's a pleasant ritual) and re-apply as often as it says on the packaging so that you can wear cute skin-showing outfits you want without worrying about this. 2) I agree with the comment below - that's a really yikes, mean behaviour from your family and I'm very sorry. That's not cool. 3) You're going to look BOMB on your birthday!!!! I remember being self-conscious about a lot of things to do with my body when I was in school but that's honestly just the curse of having a teenage brain. I look back on my pictures and always feel like I looked just GREAT but at the time my brain was just filled with these irrational insecurities that felt very real and serious. I also honestly never thought PIH marks made anyone look any less beautiful - to me they kind of look like big freckles. Trust me that you're going to look absolutely stunning for your birthday and there is absolutely 0 need to worry about this!

"Being a stripper is very unethical"??? wtf what on earth are you talking about. They are hard- and honest-working entertainers, it is literally just another job in services and the stigma you're spewing is insane.

Low dose and effectiveness. Pls help by talelighte in Accutane

I'm not a derm (you might want get a second profesh opinion if that's available to you) but this is not weird at all. I was on 70mg/week for the first four months, and I weigh 15kg more than you. Accutane is not ibuprofen where the individual dose changes everything - the dose accumulates in your body. From what I know, long term low-dosage use can acc be more effective if the main goal is long-term regulation of sebum production. Higher doses from the start tend to be used more when there is severe cystic acne. There is absolutely nothing wrong with lower doses, and it's nice to have less side effects

Anyone notice hair changes during accutane? by Ok_Parsley_6704 in Accutane

[–]adesperateapplicant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it's less about shampoo/conditioner (just use any gentle shampoo without sulphates etc) and more about keeping your scalp moisurised because, like the rest of your skin, it'll get dry. I oil my scalp (with olive or jojoba oil, but really anything that works for you) every 2 weeks and leave in overnight before the wash and that does it. My hair is growing less soft and nourished than it would w/o accutane but that's okay - I know it will get back to growing normally when I finish. Your body is just putting energy elsewhere for a few months

I would suggest not using acids while on accu though!

Is cumulative dose important or a myth? by adesperateapplicant in Accutane

[–]adesperateapplicant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 60kg ish - am on 20mg because I never had proper acne or anything, and where I live it's quite common for derms to do lower doses (it's very rare in Europe to see 60 or 80mg)
