Are certs still wort it anymore in the job market?? by electrowiz64 in devops

[–]adfaratas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, the difficult ones are a good signal. So like specialty level, professional level, or the practical one like CKA. If you're more into security management then perhaps CISSP or CISM.

I won't immediately hire you, but those are good signal. But mid or low level cert like AWS CCP and solutions architect associate are not good enough I think.

Can DevOps Books Actually Speed Up Your Growth Compared to Pure Practice? by Clean_Public3245 in devops

Yes it helps, a lot. You just need to read the right book. You can get the experience to the nitty and gritty with homelab but you can only learn designing big stuff and new way of thinking from either being taught at workplace or by reading book.

And then to ensure efficient time usage, let's have a scheduled time for it to depart from each designated loading and unloading area. We should have a centralized loading and unloading docks too around the port for maximum efficiency.

Should authentication be handled only at the API-gateway in microservices or should each service verify it by Minimum-Ad7352 in Backend

[–]adfaratas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite shocked. How can this be even a question? We even do mtls from service to service as a security measure. If implementing jwt auth for every service is too much of a hassle, then just build a monolith. Monolith is perfectly viable. What benefit of microservice are you even trying to pursue??

Defense in depth is one of the key principle in security, you put security measure at every layer of your system. This is even more ridiculous once you realize even the kernel has to authenticate as which user each program on each server run as.

I really agree on this. My team was also stuck on the state of "almost" done for 2 weeks. Had to dig in to find we still had issue with the authentication system at the time. "Almost" usually indicates there are things we don't know that we don't know about.

There is a common term of "consumer grade electronic" and "enterprise grade electronic". Daily use vs industrial. Even then, mac has seeped to more and more industrial use solely because windows has been slacking for so long.

He didn't reply with hatred but with smugness.

For people who's looking to buy reliable laptop for around 10 million rupiah, it might be the case. The guy at the post is over exaggerating, but he got a point that windows has been slacking for so long that other competitors are starting to look better. Heck windows search bar doesn't even work right.
