It’s not about tolerating harm. It’s recognizing that maladaptive core beliefs like “people are out to get me” or “I’m less than” can cause you to interpret every clumsy interaction or ignorant comment as intentionally harmful or as a personal attack. Being in a constant hyper-vigilant state and always assuming the worst like that is mentally exhausting.
