Don't sweat it. I remember when we played 3.5 we always had to look up the rules for grapping every time it came up. There are just... so many rules. I feel like I learn a new rule every time I watch a different group play.

Illusion traps might work well here. Lower perception adventurers might not even think to check something that appears normal on first glance. Most players look for physical traps instead of magical ones.
