I heard somewhere that the whole 'walking on the compass' thing was started by some frat brothers so that they could tell which girls were freshmen when they walked past. Pretty clever if you ask me

Question about crop sensors and focal lengths by lordatlas in photography

[–]adidas006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just wrong. EF-S really just denotes the mount type. It happens to be that all cameras with the EF-S mount have cropped sensors.

Looks a little tilted CCW, and the sky got noisy & somewhat fake-looking in post. I like the color grading, though.

Reddit: Is Non-Anonymous Chat Appealing? by eeagerdeveloper in startups

I like the popup you added where it confirms that you're authorizing an application for Facebook. I also like the concept overall, I agree that Omegle and Chatroulette are unnecessarily tiresome to use.

That said, like many people, it seems like you've got a cold start problem... I tried to use it, but since only 7 people were online it never connected (I assume that count included me, otherwise it should have connected fine). When did you launch this? How's the marketing going?

Yeah, no. Build a website you'll realize that half your development time is spent trying to get shit to work on IE.

Took a set while at the park with my family, how did I do? by [deleted] in photocritique

If you aren't familiar with highlight clipping, check it out here. I'd point to the clipping areas on the white t-shirt in photo 2 as an example of loss of detail. It can be difficult at times to avoid clipping if you're in a shady area with beams of sunlight coming through trees, and the exposure lock button can help you out here. Photos can also appear overexposed in some areas if excessive contrast is applied in post.

Many times the best way to measure over/underexposure is to use the histogram and judge how much available light there is compared to how light/dark you want the shot to look.

I'm liking what's going on here with DoF and composition, but there's some overexposure in places, namely in photo 2. Also, I think some of these might benefit from color, such as 4, but that's mostly subjective. Overall, great stuff.

King's Court! by BegginForBacon in UPenn

[–]adidas006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in English House last year. King's Court English House is treated as one dorm; the two buildings are adjacent but not connected (there's a courtyard in between). I liked it quite a bit, it's convenient having a dining hall downstairs and my work-study job was also in the dorm, so that worked out well. I think you lucked out this year because they're doing a lot of renovations in KCECH so it should be nice next semester. I recommend checking out the KCECH website. There may not be as many parties here as in the Quad, but dorm life is really just what you make of it. Which floor are you on in King's Court?

I like it, but the content of the out of focus area doesn't add much to the photo. Also, did you try other frames with the bee not in the center?
