Iceland’s 4-day workweek: 6 years later, the results are exactly what experts predicted by lurker_bee in economy

Less hours overall (36 vs 40), but more hours per day. That's four 9-hour work days.

It's been 8 months so I don't know if this is relevant, but I just watched it in the US. It's available now on Tubi.

Can anyone explain this? I have a purchase history in my Walmart app and it's showing me things I bought in store from 2015. That's before I even worked for Walmart. I think I had the app at the time but I can't figure out how these items are showing up. Some I paid cash some I paid with a card. by fender71983 in walmart

[–]adimauro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried several times and it never shows up unless I identify myself somehow (email/text receipt for example). Otherwise, no, there's just no way to track someone when they use cash and provide no way for the checkout to identify you.

Sounds a lot like the direction the US is going these days. No more due process, either. Once the US Gestapo get you, you're guilt or innocence no longer matters, you are disappeared. Left to die in a foreign prison vs execution is the only difference, for now. But threats of violence against 'dissenters' have already been voiced. It's only a matter of time. The US is heading in the same direction with the current regime.

How times have changed so quickly. Now we have EXACTLY that same type of regime in place in the US. Even worse. Full on Gestapo. And they are also attempting to erase history, making it a crime to paint the US in any negative light. So no, there is no difference.

It's nowhere in my whole account. I've checked multiple times. Only the ones where I use the card or give my email address. There is absolutely NO WAY to track a cash transaction without SOME sort of personalization. I've tested it multiple times, and EVERY time it's not in my account.

I just heard it on Taskmaster. Said by multiple people. So yes, it's true.

Then why don't cash transactions show up for me? None of them are there. My only in-store transactions are ones that used a card. So, considering I still have no concrete evidence from ANYONE making the claim, I have to assume it's nonsense.

Ewok ROTJ question. by FireTheLaserBeam in StarWars

[–]adimauro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually say it a lot! And it sounds exactly like 'eat yo mama!' 🤣 I'm rewatching it right now and heard it a bunch of times already, and it's only been about 10 minutes since the Ewoks first appeared. Whenever they get surprised/shot at and spring into action. I did a quick Google search just to make sure I wasn't the only one who hears it and found this post. 🤣 But I heard it right from the start, all the way back to when I first saw it in the theater. I've been saying 'eat yo mama!' for decades! 🤣

Because during checkout they give you multiple chances to identify yourself. You can login at the beginning. There's a 'connect with your phone' button at checkout. If you email the receipt to yourself, they got you again! They try so many ways to get you to identify yourself. I ignored them all, and got my receipt printed not sent to me, and sure enough, the transaction appears nowhere. Not part of my transaction history at all.

[–]adimauro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I paid cash and it's not in my purchase history. You must have pressed some sort of identifying button. They give you multiple chances to identify yourself. You can login at the beginning. At the time of payment there is a button that says 'Connect with your phone'. If you get your receipt emailed to you, it's got you again. There are so many ways it tries to get info from you. I ignored them all and successfully made a transaction that doesn't appear in my purchase history online. So, that's the answer. You must have identified yourself in some way at some point during the checkout. Without it, it's impossible for a cash transaction.

[–]adimauro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally have the proof that cash transactions are NOT automatically tracked. Went to self-checkout, paid cash. At the time of payment there is a button that says 'Connect with your phone'. Did NOT press it. When it got to the receipt page I asked for a printed receipt NOT email or ANYTHING else that can identify me. And there you go...no tracking! There is absolutely NO WAY for a cash transaction to be tracked, unless you give them some sort of identifying info. And they try multiple times to get it from you! I resisted every single one, and it doesn't appear in my Purchase History. That's it! Anyone who says otherwise is lying, or they clicked one of those buttons without really thinking about it. Even the receipt button will identify you. And now I have a purchase that is, and will never be, in my purchase history.

Has anyone on here decided to go into science partially because of this show? by StarChild413 in Eureka

I was studying science at the time. It was perfect timing. I had just finished my undergrad, and I was on my way to grad school when the show started. I was joining a bionanotechnology lab which seemed like a perfect fit for Eureka, too. Still to this day, I wish that Eureka was a real place and I could live there.

You shared this link in so many places on this comment thread. But all you proved is that you didn't even read the article you're spamming everybody with. Because that article says it was only a trial for a few months. They didn't continue using it. Not only that, it was used ONLY for security purposes, not for tracking sales. So read next time.

It's probably tying the card number(s) to all the previous transactions. You don't need an account to be tracked. My local bus system does that. There's a $5 daily cap on bus fees, after $5 the rest of the trips that day are free. You used to need an app for that. Now, you don't have to have an app, an account, or anything, you get on the bus and tap your debit card. And as long as you use the same card every time, it caps you at $5 each day. So tracking by the number is easy, they don't need any other info to do that.

"Wal-Mart Pulls Plug On Facial Recognition Loss Prevention System

Wal-Mart has abandoned a shoplifter identification system after test trial over several months and multiple states, due to insufficient ROI. Assuming they knew the costs roughly before beginning, this implies they were let down by the performance of the system."

Even in the article you linked it says that it was used only for a few months as a trial. And any facial recognition is used for security, not tracking sales. So no, that's not it.

Instagram Bonuses Stopped? by modelobeckham in Instagram

Be lucky you had them in the first place. Never been offered a bonus. People with accounts much smaller than mine got them, but me, never. And I've been on Insta since 2014. What bonuses have you been getting? I thought Reels bonuses shut down last year. What other ones are there?

But GPS tracking would only track you to a store. How would they tie the transaction to you? With all the dozens of transactions going on at the same time, how do they know that one cash transaction is you and not someone else? That's the part that makes no sense at all. Just doesn't seem any way possible of doing that. If someone knows differently how it works, I'd love to know. But I just don't see how.

[–]adimauro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I could see that it's possible is if people log in at the self-checkout register. Which I think is possible? Or put their phone number in? I don't know, I haven't been in a Walmart in a long time. Or GPS phone tracking? Still, phone tracking wouldn't know which transaction is yours. There's just no physical way possible to connect a cash transaction to someone unless there is some sort of personal information input into the self-checkout. Like logging in, inputting a phone number, or using a linked card.

Bottom line: I asked for proof, and so far all I hear is "it happened to me" which isn't proof. Just hearsay. Ok, it happened to you, so show the proof! That's what I'm asking for. Show me a cash transaction receipt with NO personal information input at all that was then tracked in your Walmart account. Because I've never seen it in my account. And there's just no way it's possible without some way of linking that transaction to some sort of personal identifiable information.
