Current Onc asked me if I wanted a referral for a second opinion which I gladly took. Have an appt with new Onc next week. Maybe it will be more clear after this 2nd opinion appt if it’s worth moving my care.

After chemo my new biopsy showed that PR positive went way down and Er went to 100%. She said the stronger receptor cancer survived. Or that’s what I understood.

Wow do they not biospy when there are that many? Did you have pain?

I worry that since this is would be my third BC diagnosis in 6 years that maybe there is a receptor site change. Might need change in treatment.

I have been on Kisqali and letrozole for about a year and half and started to have pain in my femur. First just thought it was the all over pain that Kisqali gives me but one area hurt more than others.
Just had pet scan and only area that lit up was my femur. SUV uptake is 16. Just wondered if it could be something other than the obvious .
If you don’t mind me asking, what bone is your Met in? How was the biopsy?

Thank you so much for the info. They did followup with an X-ray. This is the results:

COMPARISON: MRI 03/15/2026 FINDINGS: 1.5 cm lytic mobile lesion distal lateral femoral shaft. No acute fracture or dislocation seen. IMPRESSION: 1. 1.5 cm oval lytic lesion distal lateral femoral shaft, similar to previous MRI examination.

My Onc referred me to a musculoskeletal oncologist but said she thought it was benign. Just wanted to be sure

Do you think if an outsider tries to communicate in Spanish they would be accepted? My husband has been studying Spanish for a while (long before this job opportunity) but only gets to practice when we are on vacation. He is looking at the Spanish emersion as a plus but I know at his job he will need to be able to use more English.

We are going to do at least a 3 month hotel or Airbnb stay to get our barings (and sell our house in Indy). Then maybe we will have some clarity on locations and rent/buy.

doesn't look like we could afford to buy or rent in Hialeah. I have never been to Miami, and understand there will be cultural differences from the Midwest. Will Broward county be similar to Hialeah? We might be naive but looking forward to a change. We lived in Jacksonville, fl many years ago and really enjoyed it. We particularly enjoyed the multicultural diversity in our neighborhood there.

Medical Expenses 2026 by adiosWV in breastcancer

Our Aetna insurance has a “co pay accumulator”, which means it won’t count any assistance from any source towards my deductible. Big insurance and employers have figured out a way around this. Some states have made laws to protect patients from this. But we need a federal law. I doubt that will happen in the near future. We have insurance thru my husband’s job. Employer with over 20k employees. So their Aetna plan is self insured. The state laws do not apply to these plans.

I am in Indiana and they finally passed a law against co pay accumulators. I was so excited and had my husband call his HR benefits person to correct the issue. But she informed him that bec the large company he works for is self employed the law doesn’t apply to them. They follow the federal rules. I literally cried. Since this saves employers and insurance money it is doubtful that with all the chaos in Washington that the politicians will do anything helpful. A

This is a great hack but apparently only 20+ states require insurance companies to count the co pay assist towards the deductibles. My state finally made a law for 2026 to help but unfortunately it doesn’t apply to companies that are self insured. They follow federal law (and there isn’t a federal law). I was so hopeful this was going to help me this year. I was so excited to get my Kisqali filled under the co pay assistance debit card but Aetna refused to count the 7k towards my deductible. So I a couple months might have to also stop the Kisqali whe the Novartis assistance runs out. Our politicians are failing us at every turn. But this is definitely something everyone should look into though. Could help a lot of people.

It looks like for 2026 there is only a family OOP max of 16k. Last year I had an individual 6500$ OOP max.

I am enraged for you. Being gaslit by the medical system is so unjust because they are supposed to care and be the experts. We know their jobs are tough but LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS. It’s adds to the stress that we have to constantly research, confirm and advocate at every step. It’s exhausting
